Okay, something I have been worried about is that when I go into labour I will panic and forget everything I have been trying to drum into my brain over the past 9 months preparing me for the event they call BIRTH

Im going to try and labour at home for as long as possible so I need to rememeber techniques that are going to help me. I know what Im like and as soon as I go into labour I will freak for a while and then after giving myself a good talking to I will be focused so....

Anyway to get to the point Im doing a massive chart ( with pretty drawing of course  ) to stick on my kitchen wall so I dont forget all these things when shitting myself thinking I CANT DO IT!!!!

Anyone else done anything similar? Even if Im wasting my time by doing this thats fine, I have plenty of time to waste right now  I think OH will appreciate some directions too...it will be like a labour map all he has to do is navigate :D

Could you scan it when you've done it so we can all adapt and use it too :cheer:

I think this is an excellent idea

and as you say if you dont use it, at least you are doing something now.

can you take a picture of it and show us when it is done.... might give us all some inspiration :D

Good plan Sar, i'm no earth mother hippy type, but i have been compiling a page of statements to read to myself while in labour...
you can do it...
look at all the women in the world that have given birth...
if chavs can do it you can do it :rotfl: (sorry had just watched Pramface babies!)
etc... u get my drift!

LOL :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
LOVE IT!!! You crack me up!! :rotfl:

Seriously though if you have found any inspiring ones then do share - i am thinking of doing the same and could use a good starting point

I'm explaining it all to hubby as he has a great memory and is very calm in difficult situations.

I tend to also be ok and not lose the plot so hope to be the same when Biff arrives.

I've typed up a birth plan for hospital for a few scenarios and hubby is going to print them out. Only a sheet of A4 for each different one and all bulletpointed and short. But it'll help him and me if we know what we at least want to be able to try if I need to go to hospital for any reason.

I did discuss hiring a TENS machine also. But in the end decided that if I plan a homebirth I'd rather try to use movement, showers, bath etc for pain relief in the early stages and to build up a better tolerance level for the second stage this way. I'm quite happy with this and reckon I'll do ok.

I think maybe try having different notes in different rooms? So as you move around they will be there to see and relavant to the room you are in? Saves your OH having to run back and forward also.

I've also left all the things I need out in one place so hubby can lay his hands on them easily if needed. So everything from my bath towels to inhalers are lumped in with my undies and babys clothes (if I do go to hospital) are all in the same pile. He can just take what I need for round the house and the same for the hospital bag.

I stocked up on Lucozade and chew bars etc also. My MW said eating was very important in first stage so to make sure I nibbled at least.

Well this is a bit profound, but i have a link school in Kenya that I work closely with in my job, and one of the teachers visited last year when i was early preg... she told me that in Kenya the women walk a mile (at least) to hospital if in labour... if they make it..if not, they squat and deliver and then carry baby & cord still attached rest of the way!

So i'm guessing my comfy bed and epidural are not gonna be so bad!

The I can't do it bit comes right at the end hun...by which point you won't care as long as the deliver the baby safe and sound... and you'll have a doc/midwife with you by then :) Oh and men panic so don't expect too much help there :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: they become good punch bags though :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sounds like a good idea, it will give you something to focus on during the contractions too.

Brilliant idea :D

Ive been sending emails to Hubby with different bits of info on, things like breathing techniques so hopefully he will remember and help to keep me calm.

OH doesnt want to go to birth classes so we now have one on my kitchen wall...sumarised in 3 A3 pages

I felt like I was at school with my colouring pencils :rotfl: it felt so weird writing too, havent done that in a few months now apart from shopping lists

Funny you should say this - that's how I managed to finally pass my driving test by realising that thousands of chavs had passed so why couldn't I?! :rotfl:

WOW!!! That chart looks so neat and inviting it makes me want to go into labour now!!

Seriously, you could sell that on ebay!!

I know I'll forget most things once stuff gets started so I'm keeping it really simple - blow lots when it hurts, to try and accept pain rather than be afraid of it or fight it too much, remembering that holding someone's hand is known to reduce pain and fear (hopefully without breaking it!), and last of all I've asked my birthing partners to try to help me keep my sense of humour - something I know always helps me through stress.

I want to learn whatever I can from it and keep a really open mind to decisions along the way. The only thing I've decided in advance is that I don't want pethidine, I would have an epidural though if it seemed right at the time.

I want freedom to feel my way through stuff rather than too many plans I'll forget anyway.

I can't read it properly :(

Can you take 3 pics so I can read each one individually?

I apologise in advance at being blind as a bat !!

is this pace full of people with too much talent... you... BabyBee and her cake making and Sov with her nappy cake!

LOL thanks hun  I thought it was pretty crap but it will help me hopefully at the time and I quite enjoyed doing it :D

It's lovely! I want to make one now! (i love making things, lol).

Hope it's useful for you! Even just as a distraction and something to read!!!

Trust me when I say that everything you THOUGHT you would do/care about once you're in labour won't even enter your head. You'll just go with the flow!
