well at the minute finleys teething. after his feed and some iburofen he goes to bed ok in his cot and sleeps perfectley untill 2/2.30am. tehn he wakes crying. i try to settle him. keep putting his dummy in for him aagin to wake 10 mins later crying again. ive had a few weeks of this now.
the only way we can get sleep is if we put him in with us. he'll go straight asleep until 8.30am/9am.
only thing is i'm so worried that he wont go back into his cot. i'm worried that he's not waking becuase of teething and its because he wants to come in with us. i feel so guilty to of let him to start sleeping with us and i'd rather this wouldnt happen.
i'm so scared that he wont sleep properlly back in his cot again. what can i do to stop this?

I don't know tbh. I get oscar to sleep in our bed, then when he is I put him in his cot until he wakes sometime in the night. I put him in with me to feed him and fall asleep myself so he's used to it. He has never been in his cot awake . I think I'm stuck with this now cos if I leave him alone he gets into such a frenzy it's not fair.

Have you tried a bottle to resettle? Charley will only go back to sleep with a bottle! I tried bringing him into my bed but he would start crying! He actually loves his cot! Lol

Drakes the same Chaz! He hates it with me lol

Drake starting doing the same but it ended up being hunger afterwards! You could try him with a bottle like chaz said?

yeh steve said that this morning but kinda dont want him to get used to night feeds again. and dont think he's hungry as he settles straight away with us.
think i will try it though i'll try anything to help.
thanks girls x

I know what you mean. Drake hadn't had a night feed for a month and I had to give him one last night and ok he stirred for about 10 minutes after it but he slept til 6am then. I'd rather feed him then him being restless all night. If it's not hunger for finley then maybe he's waking out of habit? Persevere with it if can if it's habit..he'll soon get used to not being in your bed. I left my now 7yr old in bed with me every night when he were a baby as it seemed like the easier thing to do but in reality it was a nightmare as he was still climbing into bed with us every night at 5-6 years old!

We are going through the same phase at the moment, I don't want to do it but I need to sleep! It's so weird how the minute you put them in with u they are fast asleep, but as soon as you put them in their cot they scream! I'm hoping when these teeth come through he will just go back to sleeping through as he won't wake in pain. Not much help, sorry x

zazu. u totally are help lol! made me better knowing someone else is going through the same thing. the night feed didnt help so he isnt waking because of hunger. we are thinking of moving his cot back in with us to see if that helps.

monty was in his cot for the first 7 month 100% fine then he started teething and crying so came in with us 2 years later he was still there lol, It just turned into a nightmare and wouldnt go back in the cot, with dolly she did the same but I stuck to my guns and didnt let her in our bed and within a few wks she was ok again in the night, you do whats best for you but with me it just made another problem.

Hi Mel, last night we put him down at 7 and by 7.40 he had woken up for cuddles 3 times! We decided to try control crying, we started of with 5 mins, went and soothed him and put the mobile on, 10 mins and then went him and soothed him and put the mobile on, then within 5 mins he was fast asleep and didn't wake until 7am! It was heartbreaking hearing him scream but I know there was nothing wrong with him, and I feel so much better after a good nights sleep! Hope it carries on and thought maybe it could help you (although I know some people find it distressing) x

thanks for the advice.
we are gonna put finleys cot back in with us tonight to see how that works. then gradually move him back into his own room after he's started sleeping better. he's had anotehr tooth come through over the last few days so i'm hoping that he'll start sleeping better now.
let me know how u get on and if he does teh same again tonight.
finleys such a light sleeper which is anotehr problem weve got aswell. u only have to go in his room to check on him and sometimes he wakes

Mel! Emily doing the exact same the same thing!! She goes to bed at 7 and sleeps straight through till about 5 and from then onwards she cries every ten minutes! As soon as she gets in with us......FAST ASLEEP!!! I'm the exact same as you though, I'm scared she will want this all the time! It's hard when you really need to sleep and got no other option!! We brought her through this morn and she wouldn't settle so rob took her downstairs so I could sleep :) I keep saying to him how much I worry that she won't sleep normally in her cot again. Usually she goes into her cot wide awake and puts herself to sleep(still does) and wake up and amuse herself till we go through!! X

I did the controlled crying again last night and within half an hour he was fast asleep for the night again. He wasn't as hysterical as the first night either. I'm hoping I won't need to do it for too long. X

Sounds like your getting somewhere Zazu! :)

How did you get on last night Mel?

Emily slept right through till 6 for the first time in well over a week! Think
It was a fluke though so preparing myself for tonight! X

It's interesting reading this. Ive started feeding Blake on my side in bed and we inevitably both fall asleep until morning. Really going to have to not be as lazy and make sure I put him back in his cot.

Hope it gets better for you ladies soon xxx

Did he sleep better in your room? X

we had a whole night with no finley in our bed heaven!! although i kinda missed him but i enjoyed having space ha ha!
he did wake up like over 10 times for his dummy but hopefully that will reduce. the main thing at the minute is that he's back in his cot getting used 2 it again. i refuse to have him back in our bed ever again.
