has anyone else flown when about this pregnant, we have a flat in spain that we are going to in august but i havnt flown when pregnant before and any tips would be appreciated.

I flew at 20 going out and 21+4 coming back and it was fine apart from being a bit uncomfortable (4 hour flight).

Ask for an aisle seat near the loo as I was up and down to the toilet, think my bladder stopped working as felt like I needed a wee but could only just manage a dribble.

Should be fine on a short flight, I wouldn't worry about it too much, I found it the same as going on a long car journey but with an available toilet instead of having to wait for services.

I flew to Spain at 5 months preggo, just drank plenty of water and tried to have regular walks or feet and leg exercises during the flight. Try and get the extra leg room seats aswell. Hope you have a good trip xx

i flew to spain at 10 weeks, san francisco at 20 weeks and ireland at 31 weeks :D :D you'll be fine hon, just possibly a little uncomfortable

I flew to Spain at 4 months pregnant (1st pregnancy). It was fine, no different to any other time.

I have just returned from a week in Turkey and found the flight to be no problem, only thing that I struggled with was swollen ankles in the heat. Make the most of your last trip before baby arrives.

I just came back from Sardinia and found the flight quite uncomfortable but it wasn't too long so wasn't too bad. I wore flight socks as a precaution so it may be worth getting yourself a pair.

Spain in August sounds lovely, lucky you :D Oh and I couldn't seem to find any insect repellent that was ok for pregnant ladies so I didn't take any and got bitten a fair bit :( Might be worth asking your midwife for a recommendation :D

I flew a lot during pregnancy - last time must have been around 30 weeks. It's fine, but I hear that if you've had problem with swelling it can get worse. That said, at 5 months that shouldn't be an issue yet.

I personally preferred to check in online and tried to get a seat as near front as possible so that I could get out among the first as I was always dying for a loo when landing! Aisle seat is the best for that reason too - as well as being kinder to your belly!

Enjoy your holiday :D

At 16 weeks I flew, Spain to Germany, Germany to Finland in one day then Finland to Germany, Germany to Barcelona, Barcelona to Alicante in one day... I felt just fine :) No swelling no dizziness...and its only 2.5 hours from the UK to here...

OOoooo it will be ROASTING here in August this year... we are set for a real hot summer...that might be the only down fall about coming to Spain...but water is really cheap here so just make sure you carry a bottle with you all the time.... I went to Italy when I was about 16 weeks pregnant too (we went on a med cruise then to SIL wedding in Finland straight after)...and it was the heat that really got me the most...

BTW where in Spain are you going? :)

I flew at 30-31 weeks. I went to my GP beforehand and got her to check my vitals and baby's. she then ok'd me to fly and wrote me a letter to carry with me in case anyone asked.

I was quite small when preg, so no-one did ask, they prob thought I wasn't as far on as I was. Flying was fine but I was only on a short flight to Germany.

Hi

I flew to New Zealand at nearly 6 months and it was fine, i was just really tired and hot! Drank lots of water and got up as much as i could, LO kept lying transvers and sticking limbs out everywhere, that was the worst bit, it made me leap up and shout

We toured both islands in a campervan for nearly 4 weeks then flew home

Had a fab time and can tell my little boy that he has been to the other side of the wold

Hope you have lovely time

I flew at 16 weeks to Brussels, 20 weeks to Florida, 22 weeks to las vegas and then returning back I was just under 25 weeks. Drink plenty of water, move around and make sure you tell them you are pregnant if you are not showing - the flight attendant will take extra care of you.

Drink plenty of water on holiday, the heat made me dehydrated and I ended up getting a urine/kidney infection.

Have a fab holiday..should be blooming marvellous :)

I flew to Majorca (we stayed near Magalluf but went to Palma Nova most nights) when I was approx 20 weeks with DD, no probs at all.

Flew to Florida when I was approx 15 weeks with DS and again no probs, had some spotting on the way back but I'd bled during first and 2nd tri slightly so wasn't too concerned.

Make sure you drink loads, seek shade (babe wont like being right out the sun being cooked, DD wiggled like anything when I was sunbathing, so bad I had tum under a sunshade!). Watch what you eat as well, obviously some places don't have the same standards of hygiene as the UK. We stopped somewhere for a sandwich once, I went to the loo and the chef was in there who left without washing their hands then picked up our sandwich to serve us... :puke:

I flew to Detroit when I was around 23-24 pregnant. It was fine, I just made sure I wore flight socks and got a and aisle sest near the bathroom- you'll probably find the fact that you need to wee a lot which makes you move around a lot too.

Also, I'm not sure how many weeks you'll be in August but you might need a fit to fly certificate from the GP/ Mw just in case they question how far into the pregnancy you are. Also make sure you insurance covers you up to the amount of weeks you are on your return date.

I want to go on holidays- lucky you. Detroit wasn't quie the sun holiday I was after

I flew to Malaga at 5/6 months pregnant. I told Easyjet I was preggers and they gave me (and hubby) priority boarding so that I could get an aisle seat near the front. I wore flight socks too. I had no problems at all.

Enjpy your hols!
