Did you know you were supposed to get this when pregnant? I didn't. Apparently there is a 5x greater risk of complications. I'm booking an appointment next week I think!!

Can also get it done it boots or Tesco, but for it to be free you need to prove your pregnant, which you may need the scan for!

I was going to ask my mw about this and get it at my doctors. Ironically I've been down for a flu jab first 2 years as they thought I was a nurse first some reason...

what's a maternity exemption card?

The mw signs you up for one, if you've not seen a mw you wouldn't have one yet. Enables you to get free prescriptions and dentists etc.

My GP just booked me in for one when I had my first appointment was very quick!

My whooping cough one is due after 4th June. (Having my best friend working in my doctors surgery is really helpful! Shane midwife isn't attached!)

yeah i had one last time, your immune systemi s low during pregnancy and flu can have really nasty effects so you get one, i will probably get oneoff my dr's once ive seen the mw if theyre still doing them but its not flu season here anymore so they havent been pushing the flu jabs recently

they're having issues with swine flu in our hospital at the moment ,so I'm going to get it sorted. Not sure ill get an exemption card in Wales then, we get free prescriptions anyway!

oh, and I haven't seen a gp to refer me ,my mums doing my antenatal care so don't have to! And she recommended I get one booked ASAP (thought id pass it on for anyone else not in the know!)

we dont get a card in wales but if you go the dentist you just have to fill in a form about getting it for free cos your preg and yeah free prescriptions are a bonus here

I got mine done at my gp surgery as soon as I found out which they told me to do I thought u got it done later on but they said to get it don't as soon as u know ur pregnant maybe try phoning ur gp and asking if u can go down an get it done? X

yeah it's only in England you still get the exemption cards coz we pay nearly £8 per item on prescriptions still!!! Wales and Scotland are free you jammy wotsits...

We get the exemption card in Scotland too cos we pay for dental so we are exempt from that when pregnant I got mine through a few weeks ago x

If you have sent off your form just tell them you are waiting for your card my dentist just said that was fine

I've never managed to get on the NHS list for a dentist, and an article on the radio today said there's no NHS spaces in the county at all... So I'm private anyway!! luckily I've never needed any dental treatment besides a checkup!

im with an nhs dentist in prestatyn and they almost always have space to take on new ppl lol lucky for me as i didnt have a dentist a few years back and it was horrid
