Hi everyone I have just joined the forum  My hubby & I will be married a year soon & have been discussing starting a family. Neither of us have children & are unsure how to go about it (well we know "how" ). Was looking for information on prenatal vitamins that I should be looking to take. Also, I have very irregular periods and have been told that perhaps CM monitoring would be one way to gauge ovulation? Any help or advice anyone has would be greatly appreciated

Welcome first timer! Taking pre pregnancy vitamins (folid acid) for around 2-3 month prior to and 3 months after conception is recommended. You can pick up the vitamins in boots or supermarkets. Actually boots have 3 for 2 at the moment as was buying more for myself today....ha ha! (I don't work for boots...honest!) Cm monitoring is really worth doing. I started doing this last month as well as taking my basal temperature. Just prior to ovulation (when you need to be BD-ing) your cm should be like egg whites and be stretchy (sorry for tmi) this is your most fertile window and you should be dtd every other night until the day after you have ovulated. You'll know once you've be ovulated as you temperature starts to rise. But once you've ovulated, your fertile period is up! Your cervix position prior to ovulation should be high and soft and your cm starts to change....usually milky, creamy and then usually it dries up (unless you have conceived). Could be worth charting your cycles.....as this gives you a good idea about what is happening to your body and when you are likely to ovulate each month.......also gives you something else to focus on during the waiting game! :wall: However, I have learned from this wonderful forum that everybody is different so you might experience things a little differently. However you experience things, good luck with ttc. I hope it happens very quickly for you. Sending you some baby dust :dust: for luck x

Thank you melly41  at the moment we are not actively trying but not actively preventing, if that makes any sense but we are keen to start a family. Just want to start off on the best possible foot. I have started trying to track my CM only for AF purposes as it can be up to a week out from month to month, nightmare, but at least I know what I'm looking for.

Thank you for your advice, ill def give the temp measurement a try as well as CM

Hello!
It's my first time TTC also and have no idea where to start, everything's so confusing isn't it?

I had irregular periods due to the pill I was on, I used OVIA app to track mine and it made it so easy to track until they became regular. As for pre natal vitamins I've started taking Vitamin D and folic acid (high dose)

Good luck to you, sending you some baby dust! :dust:

Hey nice to meet you all. I have just had my first cycle of TTC (been with hubby 13 years in June and married 3 years in july) no luck 1st month trying even though I had loads of pregnancy symptoms it was all in my head. The next cycle is just around the corner ....hoping it doesn't take ages to get my BFP. ... it's so hard to relax and think of other stuff now !

Good luck to all!!

Also TTC #1. I really didn't think the whole thing would take over my life but hey here I am haha!!

I would never have believed I could create so many 'pregnancy' symptoms. I'm trying so hard to stop symptom spotting as it's not helpful but that's so much easier said than done!!
