Ive got my scan this Tuesday at 11.40am and im absolutely bricking it to put it honestly. This will be my first scan, ill be 12 weeks and 1 day. That may change once i get scanned.

It seems a waste of a topic but what advice would you give to someone going for their first scan?..Or put someones mind at ease thats completely terrified of being laughed at or being told something is wrong :|

Thanks ladies :)

You will nearly wet yourself when they tell you to drink 2 pints, then keep you waiting 40 mins past your time, then press really hard with the probe!!!! Lol. Just enjoy it - the feeling when you see it is magical!!! Oh, and tell OH to tke a book in case you are delayed - my hubby was most unimpressed when the only thing I could find for him to read was a leaflet on how to hand express breast milk!!!! ha ha!!! xxx

Easier said than done but try and keep calm. I tried to make sure i'd eaten so I wouldn't faint or anything.

Try and keep your mind occupied til you get there xx

take plenty of change for the machine (if you have one) to purchase scan photos. We had to buy tickets to hand to the sonagrapher x

Oh yeah, our photos were £4 each but she said she did have change for a tenner if we needed it. And not sure about your hospital but my midwife told me to take a wee sample that I then didn't need.

last time mine were £2 each varies I suppose x I'm hoping their not that high in my hospital this year as need 4 pictures a go. :(

I know, I was a bit shocked you didn't get one free actually - I thought £4 was quite steep!! It is a brand new hospital though so suppose they have to fund the bill somehow!! I wanted 4 photos but my tight OH said I had to have one then he scanned it into the comp for me and printed it of!! ha ha

Our hospital is £5 for 5 pictures and we have to hand a ticket to the lady, I didn;t drink a pint of water before I went in I had 2 cups of tea did the same job, then they ran an hour late and I was bustin for the loo, I got in there and she said nice full bladder I felt like saying no s**t sherlock lol!!

Just enjoy it Dani it is the most amazing thing ever whenyou see the little heart beating xxxx

ive already been told £5 a picture i think thats a little expensive x

wouldn't mind the cost but half the time they take crappy pictures for you and rush it :(

Thanks ladies :). Im only going to drink about a pint, we have pint glasses in the house so it shouldn't be a problem, just hope i dont need to drink anymore, ill have to warm the sonographer not to press too hard otherwise ill wee on them .

My midwife quoted £3 each for my pictures, but im expecting the price to go out somewhat when i get there :)

On my notes it said to go to the toilet 45mins-hour before, and then keep drinking regularly. I just sipped water, luckily I wasn't late going in and no one said my bladder was too empty or anything.

I thought I would cry seeing my baby for the first time, but I was just fascinated and I cry quite easily! I will never forget that first flash you see of a baby shape in there! Just amazing! My OH half wasn't aware they moved around that much, and he was really surprised when it wiggled around. It's natural to feel nervous before, but on the actual day I had a feeling everything was going to be fine!

xx

Heya, i had my scan at 11.10 in the morning so similar time to you. I had cuppa tea in the morning and couple more drinks. Went for a wee about 9.30am and then had a litre bottle of water nd jus kept having a bit now and again until i had at least 3/4 of i t. I got a fairly good pic and sonographer didnt have to press too hard. My pics we £5 and we got given 5 xx

I had my 1st scan last weds it was amazin so magical to c my little baby my boyfriend was amazed it can be nervous but you just have to take each stage one step at a time and hope for the best we cant help but worry i know but i just keep tellin my self everything is goin to be fine :) x

I have my scan on Thursday and this is my first pregnancy. I'm like you, and actually as worried (if not more so) as I am excited. Everyone tells me that worrying is only going to do the baby harm, but I can't help it! I'm just trying really hard to stay positive. The way I see it, what will be will be :)

i like that what will be will be, its sooo true, ive gotta wait until 1st december for my nuchal/dating scan feels like a lifetime away and ive already seen bambino twice.
