Had my growth scan and consultant appointment today. Totally weird as both were men and the consultant had no idea who I even was and had an accent and was very very quiet. He asked me when he was seeing me next rather than tell me haha!

He also asked me how my GTT was and I said I didn't know the results so he checked them for me. Starting was 4 and end was 3.8 so thankfully all good!!!

Baby is right on the 50th centile line at roughly 2lbs 13oz - his head was a tiny bit above and abdomen spot on middle. His femur length is I would say about 75th centile so he seems to have long legs (did at the 20 week scan too) Although both me and my BF are sort of average height and not tall.

He gave us a free pic of his face :) just nice having a memento through pregnancy!

Next scan at 32 weeks! Cant wait to see how he is growing, my chart estimates he will be sort of 8lb 8oz is by 42 weeks if he is a late baby! Is that average or a bit on the bigger side?

Ah gorgeous pic, great that baby is measuring up well. I think 8lb 8 would be a bit above average but not classed as big. How come you have to have extra growth scans? I had 2 extras last time and if I'm honest I'd totally love to see her again this time before she arrives haha x

It's because of my increased BMI so I was told they want to monitor baby growth. It is lovely to be able to see him and get the extra reassurance! Just hoping if we have no complications throughout that I'll go back to just midwife led and hoping I will be allowed a water birth!

Lovely picture! I've been told I have GD too and will be having my first growth scan in 2 weeks when I'll be 30 weeks- I'm excited to get another! How are you doing with the Diabetes? I've found the first few days a struggle but actually not that different to my normal diet? Just without my beloved choc hob nobs or haribos! My sister had GD too and at 36 weeks was told she was measuring 9llbs 2... Her daughter came 3 weeks later at 7lb! Xx

I'd say 8lb8 at 42 weeks is probably about average. My daughter was 8lb4 at 38 weeks and on the 90th centile xx

I haven't got GD DeeDeeAbi - Although looked at how to manage it and it does seem to vary for different women. I honestly would have struggled because I have a bad sweet tooth, my cereal is sugary and then I have orange juice and snacks. I am terrible! I fully expected to have it but was thankful I didn't

I am just panicking about having a large baby, I am glad he is on the middle range but just have this awful feeling he will be huge!

Oh sorry! I misread your post...saw GTT and extra growth scan and assumed wrong! I'm scared about a big baby too, especially seeing as I know what I eat can affect the size so much. Luckily I'm only borderline and my sugar levels are within range so hopefully baby isn't growing too much, but apparently it gets harder the maintain as pregnancy goes on so will probably need metformin later. Roll on when he's here, I'm getting a packet of hobnobs straight away lol!! One scary thing about GD is that they like to induce you from 38 weeks if they think baby is too big...that makes it all seem so soon! Xx
