My little girl is seven months, we started feeding her rice cereal at about six months and now I have been trying to do it three times a day and introduce bananas, etc. I tried them the other day a couple of times and maybe I pushed to hard because I tried bananas again this morning, she hated them still, and then tried the cereal, and she wouldn't eat even that anymore. I tried letting her use her fingers instead of them spoon, but so far everytime I try anything other BFing she keeps her mouth firmly shut. I'm just a bit anxious because she is getting kind of a late start...I know they will eat when they are hungry, but in her case she gets to BF and she prefers it still!
Sorry that was so long. Any advice?

I know, I think I need to not care so much...I do always smile and play when I feed her. I got some book that was so pressure-full about how they must must be eating three meals a day at 7 months, and Ruby is nowhere close!

Make sure that you sit down and eat at the same time as you LO...put finger food in front of her and let her get on with it.... follow with breast milk so she gets the idea... If she sees you eating similar things she may just be more receptive to eating.... monkey see monkey do scenario.

Theres no rush at this time as Midna said...while you LO will require more nutrients now... there are thousands of babies world wide who still only have bm for food at this age and do fine... :)

A lot of our emotions are pent up in food and by making the meal a happy social event will make the transition smoother for your LO... and let her feed herself.. :)

Thanks ladies! :D
Things are going a bit smoother now, though she still isn't quite ready for finger food yet.

I've had a LOT of trouble getting Alex to eat food - he, too, is a boobaholic.

As it is, he's almost 10 months old, and only has 2 very small meals a day. (Small as in the equivalent of two jars a day meant for 4 month old babies). Other than that he's a breast-milk guzzler.

Keep at it, she'll get there, even if it's slow.

She's actually starting to sort of reject BFing more often, so maybe it won't be too hard to wean her at one year. The only time she really BFs anymore is before bed, but she always seems to playful and distracted the sit and eat anymore unless it is baby cereal and she is truly hungry.
