Most doctors will just refer you on to the midwife for your booking appointment at about 8 weeks. Some take a test to confirm your pregnancy but most don't any more as home tests are just as reliable. It all depends on your area and your doctor - some will weigh you, check blood pressure and talk to you about what foods you should avoid etc. but some will leave all that to the midwife too. Congratulations on your pregnancy!
my bp was checked, rough dates were worked out and then I was told to make an appointment with the midwife. I was referred to a consultant by the doctor too because I have a history of high bp but that was something the midwife could have done herself, she actually seemed a little put out that he had beaten her to it lol!
nothing dramatic happened at mine, he barely looked at me. Just told me to stop drinking, give up running (which was really annoying cos 8 weeks later midwife told me it was fine to continue as normal but Id fallen out of training by then) and told me to get a form from reception to refer myself to the midwife and buy folic acid asap.
It was over so fast and he didnt redo the test or anything. It just getting into the system really.
