How long does it usually take to receive your first appointment from the time you call the midwife? Crewe is my nearest maternity ward if that makes a difference.
It varies so much in different areas.. I had a very quick appointment at about 8 weeks then a full booking in appointment at about 12 weeks! (Although this was because they had cocked up!)
My booking in was at 12 weeks and my scan at 13 weeks.
As we were having treatment they knew right away and I did also get an early scan to check location and number beforehand. So still took them a while to send me the appointment dates.
I had my booking appt at 8 weeks. Was quite a lengthy appt for me, some blood tests, lots of questions and lots of info! Then had my scan at 12 weeks x
I called the docs to ask "what next" after bfp and was booked in to see the midwife the following week (6 weeks). She gave me the appointment there and then over the phone. Letter came through the post a couple of days later to confirm in writing. It does vary quite a bit depending on where you are though.
I self referred in early June (so was about 5 weeks) and had my booking appointment and dating scan appointment through within 2 weeks of emailing my forms.
Booking appointment is usually between 8-10 weeks and dating scan should ideally be before 13w 5d if you want all your screening.
There is a frustrating discrepancy between areas and it seems even since I had my first baby 3 years ago. I thought I could self refer but gp said they wanted to see me first. Pointless 5 min appointment with GP who then just told me to tell reception who'd call the MW team who would contact me at 8 weeks. They simply said "call us again if you've heard nothing by 9" funnily enough till be 9 weeks Sun and I've not heard anything. Today I called the clinic and was given the MW mobile number so I've text her hoping she'll reply direct. I don't want to keep chasing but I also don't want to miss the dates for the checks etc. So annoying
