Hey ladies,

Well I had my hospital appointment through today (woohoo)for Monday 26th march and it says it's open to both me and my partner.I'm in a fairly new job so going to see if I can change to a Friday so I can work from home. Didn't expect that through so am chuffed at how quick it's happening :)

Did you guys have to have a lot of time off work for appointments? I don't want to tell them as I've not been there long and I also don't want to say its health related in case they think oh she's ill and just joined ha ha. I hope I can just work from home on those days. I still need to arrange my bloods to be redone too.

After that will it be hsg and lap tests??

I hate medical things - although it's good it's also nerve wracking :( xx

Hiya we had our first appointment in November and since then i've had to have 3 afternoons off work, all other appointments ive been able to make outside of work hours, just had to juggle my shifts a bit.

My work were funny with me at first and told me i had to use annual leave but i contacted HR who informd me i was entitled to them.

After our first appointment i was bookied in for an ultrasound and OH had to retest about 6 weeks later, i then had to go for a HSG where i was prescribed clomid, ive had a coulple more ultrasounds since to see how the tablets are working and now its just that 2ww.

its fab that you got your appointment through so fast, like i said we had our first one in Nov and i started treatment in Feb so i was pretty pleased with that.

Good Luck with your journey xxx

Hiya, that's great you've got an appt :) I just said to my work I had a hosp appt and they let me go, no questions asked. Your employer has no right to know what your appt is for so don't be worried. If pushed say you're going for a smear, that'll shut them up! (esp if your boss is a dude lol).

If it's your 1st appt they will just talk over all your results of tests you've already done and ask some questions about your cycle, lifestyle, job etc. I also got an internal scan so they could check my ovaries, although I'm not sure if everywhere does that. Yeah they will probably discuss the hsg and arrange it for you (or if you're me put me on a 7 mth waiting list). But don't worry, unless you're in Glasgow it doesn't seem like there are long waiting lists elsewhere.

Good luck and let us know how you get on! No need to be nervous hun, you'll be fine xxx

Thanks ladies :)

Good idea on the smear - ill use that ha ha. I can work from home so means I don't need to take time off and can always take a late lunch or something.

Do they give you a choice of appointments as mine was just picked for me.

Blimey 7 months is a long time - I think it might be quite quick here. I'm definitely scared of a lap though!! Eek xx

I wasn't given a choice of appt, that would be asking a bit much of the glasgow royal lol! I waited 9mths on my initial appt so by the time it came I wasn't going to change it.

As far as the HSG I got impatient after 3mths and ended up going private. A friend at work told me she was prg the very day I got my AF (back in Dec) and I kinda flipped and had a mini-meltdown. Not in front of her of course  The only thing that made me feel better was to jump the queue for the HSG rather than waiting til March. It really wasn't that bad, it was over quite quickly so don't worry chick xxx

Ah I'm glad the hsg was ok. I think I'm more worried if I need a lap as hate hospitals and scared of anaesthic!! Have you had to have a lap done??

It's so tough when everyone around you is getting pregnant isnt it. Hopefully we will get there in the end though xx

No I didn't get the lap cos the hsg was clear.

My friend got one though and she said it wasn't too bad, she has a wee tiny tiny scar under her bellybutton but other than that se said it was ok, no pain. She said it was worse getting her wisdom teeth out a month later! Face blew up like a balloon! :) Sorry I shouldn't laugh, hehe. It's unlikely you'll need to get a lap though hun. Just take it one thing at a time and try and not think too far ahead.

Yeah there are so many people I know that are pregnant and having babies at the mo. I'm getting better at dealing with it lately, I'm having a 'i don't care month'! Seems to be working, which I'm amazed at :oooo:

Have you thought about trying reflexology or acupuncture? They are supposed to help fertility but even if they don't they are very relaxing xxx

Oh right I thought they did a lap to check for things like endo etc. my doc is a friend and said she wouldn't bother with hsg and just have lap and dye but Id rather the hsg first. But I'm getting ahead of myself ha ha.

Funny you should say that but I've started reflexology which is really nice. I did have 3 days spotting for the first time ever this month (instead of 4) so maybe its doing something?? Worth a go I guess.

Have you tried anything like that xxx

Maybe the don't care month will be what works best for you :) xx

I'm not a doc hun, so maybe your friend is right. My friend who had the lap didn't have an hsg though :eh: Docs have their own reasons for things.

Yep I tried reflexology for a few months but it was getting too expensive (loved it though). I'm now doing acupuncture and acupressure, been going for 2 months. They have promised me a BFP this month so I'll keep you posted!

I think I'd rather the hsg first - if I have an option!!

Oooh let's hope they are right - fingers crossed for you!! Have you preferred the acupuncture or reflexology? My lady is lovely and does me 30 min treatments and I've done one cycle every week and now doing one in week 2 before ov and one after ov as she said they are the important weeks. I can live with 35 a month as that's not bad at all. I can see how an hour a time would add up though xx

I have had a lap hun was no where near as scary or painful as I was expecting, have just got one tiny scar along my bikini line. Great news about your appt xxx

Thanks vicky - did you feel sick after it? I'm petrified of being sick!! X

Nope no sickness at all hun I just felt a bit drowsy for a couple of hours, after that I felt fine xxx

Thanks hun  I prefer reflexology for relaxation purposes as it's so chilled. She wraps you in a wee blanket, it's so warm and cosy :) Mines was £30 for an hour as well. I think it's worth every penny if you manage to relax and enjoy it.

I do feel that acu is actually doing something though if you know what I mean? They assess me every week by taking my pulse and looking at my tounge and tell me how my energy is etc. I'm taking the herbal pills that they recommend (tiaojing cuyun wan, if u google it you'lll see what it's for) twice a day and I think they have actually helped with my period pain.

The acu woman says the pills and the acu 'cleans you out' and prepares your lady bits for conceiving. It's all a bit airy-fairy but thought it was worth a try since I have nothing else to do whilst waiting for IUI in Oct

The things we do eh? xxx
