Hiiiii

For those of you who haven't been to one yet, I thought I'd let you know what happened in mine.

First off - I was half hour late because I had to see the consultant first :wall:

But, when I actually got there they were discussing the first signs of labour. Ie: plug loss, waters breaking, contractions, d&v. She went through the scenarios as to how there is no logical order in which these things might happen.

Then we discussed pain relief and self-help methods during labour, they seem to be all for meditation etc which I was pleased to hear about and she was massively in favour of TENS machines.

We discussed the stages of labour and then assisted births and what happens with vaccum/forceps/episiotomy.

We were given a hospital bag list and that was about it.

Next week is with midwife again and the third and final session is with a physio.

There were quite a lot of us there, 30 I think (only about 4 men went with the girls) and we were encocuraged to discuss stuff with each other. The scary thing is I think that I was probably the furthest along there, well I looked it anyway lol x

to be honest you'll find you know pretty much all the answers from what you've read on here. There was nothing that they told me that I didn't know already. It's good to mix with other pregnant women though x

Hi was this nhs or nct? I'm hoping to do both lol x

I think it was nhs. The community midwife just wrote down the time and dates in my notes and told me to go along, not really sure who is holding it but it's in the nhs hospital so....... x

Oh and she spoke about perenial massage as well. There were a few red faces from the blokes in the room at that point, especially when she told them to try doing it for their partners lol

I've requested ante natal classes three times now and each time I'm told I'll be rung back but haven't been.

Guess I won't be having any..............

xx
