Hi all,

As you ladies have probably been there already I'm looking for some advice if possible.

Long story short my husband and I have had all our tests and I do not ovulate, the last ultrasound I had in November also showed a cyst on my ovary.

We have been referred to St. marys in Manchester for fertility treatment and they redid all our tests in November.

We have finally got our consultation appointment but we are being referred back to "Dr K Majumder's new gynecology clinic".

I am really confused, why gyno? Why not reproductive medicine?

Going to be going out of my mind for a whole month.

Has anyone experienced this?

My consultant is a Gyno who specialises in fertility and the unit I attend is a Gyno / Assisted conception.

Try not to worry xx

I had a consultation today and had to report to gynaecology, even though it's my first consultation xx

Oh right that makes me feel a bit better thanks ladies.

Did they give you a treatment plan? X

I go to gynaecology too for our appointments and clomid scans etc, in fact the scans are held in the early pregnancy unit so waiting area full of pregnant people!! Also same place I went to have my mc confirmed!!

I think it just depends on hospital or fertility clinic?

Maybe they will put u on clomid like me? I have not ov since my mc 6 months ago, it's worked for me I ov this month :)

Good luck for appt the waiting for it is hard but keep busy xx

All my fertility appts were in gynaecology hon. Good luck xx

My waiting area was in the same area as woman collecting their scans which was quite depressing! I have got to book myself in for an HSG to see if my tubes are blocked xx

Hi, I've been referred to St Marys in Manchester as well. I had my bloods and scan done in October and was sent IVF information and my next appointment was with an advanced nurse practitioner in January back in reproductive medicine. The nurse said that the test results are put before a panel of doctors who decide the way forward. In my case the decision was made to offer me ICSI so the appointment with the nurse was to go through the consent forms etc. I need to have an MRI scan in March as there is a slight chance I may need surgery first but otherwise I will be able to start treatment.

I've been referred from Stockport as they don't carry out IVF so it might be a bit different if you're in Manchester and going through their referral process. We saw a consultant at Stockport so if I had needed clomid or other treatment it would have been done in Stockport. The Reproductive Medicine unit only deal with IVF/ICSI so maybe there are other treatment options that can be explored for you before considering IVF? One thing I found out at my last appointment was that St Marys don't do standard IUI any more and will only consider it if donor sperm is being used, we had been told Stockport would fund up to 6 IUI so that was a bit of a disappointment.

Good luck! xx

Tbh with my previous test results I was told my treatment would most likely be clomid so that makes sense that I'm going to gyno instead of reproductive medicine.

Obvs that's not 100% but I don't feel so worried about it.

Anyway will keep you all posted good luck everyone x

Browneyes girl my cousin is having icsi, she went to st marys but she said they weren't very helpful.

They told her to call back on af and they will get someone to explain how to inject but they can reject you up to three times if no one is available. She called them last week for the first time and rejected her she was devastated.

Is that what you've been told? X

It's a lottery system unfortunately - you ring up on the first day of af and apparently they call back within 72 hours to let you know if you can do that cycle or not. I think if you've been rejected twice they have to make room for you on the third cycle which would probably mean bumping other people off who haven't been waiting as long. Absolutely awful system but it does beat waiting lists of 3/4 years which they did used to have. I think they changed their system when the government brought in these new targets of people receiving treatment within 18 weeks xx

Yes i suppose a 3 cycle wait is better than 3 years.

Just seems like a lot of jumping through hoops and re doing a lot of tests until you finally get treatment x

Definitely is a lot of hoops at an already stressful time! I'm dreading having the tests done again as my amh was low to start with so another long wait is all I need xx

My husband and I really suffered after we had to have all the tests re done. We kept arguing, not about ttc, but that was a massive underlying factor in it. Like having to go get bloods done at the drop of a hat, him having to go to the clinic for sa, then the long waits, the bloods redone and feeling like nothing is happening and it's all for nothing!

We have finally got back on track and focused our energy on other stuff and then we get a letter saying come to the consultation. Obviously I'm happy the ball is moving again but hope I don't turn into a crazy monster again.

People say to relax but that annoys me because it's impossible x
