Fifty shades of Grey...

I don't think I'll be reading them...

I definitely do not get why anyone would lust over Christian Grey. He's a control freak until the end, controlling, mood swings, unpredictable and she is always intimidated by him and spends most of it in tears. She can't even come when he wants! The sex gets boring and repetitive, as does the language! That said I couldn't put them down, but I really can't see how this will translate into a good film.

I bought my copy yesterday. Trying to get into it but it really isn't appealing to me at the minute

I read the first book yesterday - and I am eager to find out where the story goes, however, I find it very poorly written and find myself skimming the sex scenes as they are boring and unrealistic!

It feels like its been written by a 13 year old virgin girl who has a skewed image of sex?

It may be cos I'm pregnant, but I've not been "turned on" once by this story?

I do not find Mr Grey attractive at all.

I also feel like I'm reading the twilight series all over again, but instead of vampires its a sex pest ... all the themes are there

"I'm dangerous, you should stay away from me"
"we tried being apart, it didn't work"
"I love you more, no I love you more"

But then twilight is based on the classics - Pride and Prejudice, Wuthering Heights and Jayne Eyre I think (I may be wrong, thats off the top of my head)

And whilst I agree that twilight is also poorly written, particularly towards the end of the series, its a much better read ... and easy to fall in love with the idealistic view of Edward Cullen (minus the whole vampire part of course)

That being said, I haven't finished the 50 shades series yet ... no doubt I'll be back when I do.

I'm not surprised it reminds you of twilight............50 shades was actually originally a fanfiction involving Edward and Bella which the author than changed into a series of books and renamed the characters.

I have just bought all 3 as a bundle for £8.99 on the kindle. I have had a skim through the first chapter or two just to have a nosey but haven't given it a proper read yet as I am in the middle of another book :)

I agree that Ryan Gosling is not good looking enough to be Christian, he needs to be very good looking and manly, I just feel Ryan hasn't got the face for it. I sort of agree on Ian Somerhalder being a good choice but I still feel he is not quite right. Think it will be a difficult casting call.

Hmmm I knew it was too coincidental!

There are too many similarities! Would like to hear someone elses view on it!

As you know I am very against the books (both Twilight and 50 Shades of Grey) because of the incredibly unhealthy relationship models in the book.

This is not BDSM, ladies, the erotica and BDSM communities are not pleased with such a poor portrayal of it. BDSM involves informed consent, there is a lack of informed consent.

The books are also incredibly repetitive, there are far more imaginative and interesting examples of erotica out there.

I also think the soubriquet "Mummy Porn" is very derogatory, the implication that being a mother makes you have softer needs, or even that it is shocking the mother's want to read about (or watch, by extension) sexual things - it's very derisive of mothers as sexual beings.

I feel like the book has been written by a child ... I do like twilight unfortunately but agree that it's very poorly written ... And can say the same about the hunger games too

After this I need to read some proper literature to stop feeling so guilty about reading absolute nonsense!

Tapatalk madness!

Mr grey seriously reminds me of an ex in so many ways!

I enjoyed the book as an easy read but it could have been much better written and was very predictable. I think it's been very popular because of how easy it is to read and therefore people who wouldn't usually read a book have been able to do so. That may be taken the wrong way by a few but my meaning of it was that a few people I know that aren't the most literate have been able to read it.

I won't be reading these books. Frankly, I'm fed up hearing about them.

50 shades of shut the hell up already!!

Got all three in PDF format if anyone wants a free copy :) let me know x

Me too!

Sitting in the car at traffic lights yesterday and the woman driving the car next to us was reading it... she didn't even notice when the lights had changed  Surely she could have waited to get home from the shops before starting to read it?!

Read the third one today ... They are an ok read ... Utter trash

The sex bits were really boring and repetitive after a while ... And very unrealistic ... Oh he just looked at me and I came in my pants ... Three times in a row stuff

Would recommend them if you want an easy read and to pass some time

I heard about this book a few months ago, when there were news of its film adaptation. I have since heard so much good stuff about it that now I can't wait to read it.

I read all of first 2 books but by third one was so bored I couldn't finish it and normally I'm so stubborn I'll finish a book no matter what

Using Tapatalk. Can't see tickers.
