Fiction about TTC?

I’ve read some true stories about TTC but I wondered if anyone knew about any fiction available?

It would be good to read a story based on someone else’s experiences, maybe based on a true story. I suppose it would be a bit of a niche market and could be depressing if you’re not careful, but that sort of story would inform the general reading public on an issue that so many people are faced with and make people who are struggling feel less alone. I get fed up with reading about women getting pregnant really quickly and easily, especially as 1 in 6 couples have difficulty conceiving. I’d like to read stories about it, even if its just one issue within a larger story. There’s a Marian Keyes one where the couple are trying for a while but it’s not the main story, and a Lucinda Riley one where the girl suffers a miscarriage but adopts and then has her own child in the end (& another character has fertility treatment but the author has got all the facts wrong!) I’ve got a Jodie Piccoult one which mentions egg freezing apparently.

I think some of us here would have some heartfelt stories to tell. Anyone thought about it? :coffee:

It's not a true story, but I enjoyed 'Inconceivable' by Ben Elton.

Also 'Babies in Waiting' by Rosie Fiore is a good wee read, it's about 3 ladies who are all pregnant under different circumstances and meet on a forum like this!!!

scn!!!!! I Missed your announcement!!!!! Congratulations my love

Thanks Scotch, not long to go for you now xxxxx

Sounds good!

I was going to suggest inconceivable- and it's actual half fiction really as Ben Elton and his wife went through the IVF process, that's what made him write the book as it is very different from his usual stuff! It's a comedy bit based on their real experiences.

I’m reading ‘Inconceivable’ and really enjoying it! It’s comforting to read about other people going through the same things especially a man, cos my hubby isn’t very forthcoming! I especially laughed at the bit about his sperm count, he said it was ‘normal’ but he was hoping for ‘superb’ which is almost the same as what my hubby said. Also what Lucy said about feeling that the possibility of her infertility seems like a dream and unreal, and about how her whole life has been built around the anticipation of bringing up kids & there must be some mistake. That’s exactly how I feel sometimes.
Thanks for the recommendations!

I've just read The Two Week Wait by Sarah Rayner http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/0330544101

But it's more about IVF. It was quite a read good, though I've no idea how factually correct it is.

I’ve just finished reading this and really enjoyed it. I didn’t know much about egg sharing before and hadn’t realized that a gay woman would choose IVF instead of insemination so it was interesting. It was sad at times and realistic too, highlighting how some people get pregnant easily but others have a much longer journey that might not end in a baby. Thanks for the recommendation!

There's another book by her, not TTC related though but follows other characters from this book, I can't remember what it's called but it was good!

I read 'One Moment One Morning by her too which was good! Interesting cos they are based where I live!

I haven't come across anything yet, I was thinking about it the other day funny enough X

I just read. Spirit Babies How To Communicate to The Child You Meant To Have.

Jumping in....
Pieces of you by Ella Harper

Not a true story but a good read

I haven't come across any but over the last 3 months I was thinking about writing one , sort of a guide to TTC with a collection of different stories / outcomes.
I was just thinking the other day that children are such a crucial part to meeting people or socializing as we get older especially if you move to a new area. People become friends with the parents of close friends of their children or get closer to existing friends who have children of a similar age (especially from baby to teenager), there is big void for single people in their 30's /40's or couples who don't have children to get fully integrated into an area.

That's a good idea. I have thought of doing the same as I love to write but have never got round to it. It's something I am sure lots of people would be interested in reading xx
