Hello to all you strong beautiful ladies!

My tests start tomorrow with a vaginal ultrasound. Had a ton of these before so I know exactly what to expect.

Next will be hysteroscopy on the 9th of Jan. Has anybody here had this test done and do you have any advice for me, anything I should do beforehand and what to expect? And then lastly I'll be having HSG done in February. Again any advice would be appreciated!

I need to have day 1 to 4 bloods done, however the clinic is only open on monday Wednesday and Friday. Af is due tomorrow or Tuesday, wednesday is new years day and they aren't open so I'll be lucky if I actually manage to get them done!

Hi Hunny.

If you read through some of the long term threads you’ll find lots of discussion and advice on this topic. People have mixed experiences but for me, my hysteroscopy was pain free and afterwards I had cramp and a bit of bleeding but nothing that a couple of ibuprofen didn’t fix. We weren’t allowed to try to conceive before it as obvs they’re poking about down there and that would cos probs if you were preggers.

Good luck xx

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. That's good to know! Yeah I've just started with AF cramps so tomorrow will be CD1 and my hysteroscopy is thursday so dont think I'll be in any danger of getting pregnant! X

I had them in 2017. Most people have mild cramping like AF pains and generally the procedure doesn't last very long so even if you do find it abit uncomfortable, it shouldn't last long.

Having said that, mine was meant to take 5-15 minutes but ended up taking over an hour and quarter because after the initial quick look, one of my ovaries decided to hide and a more experienced doctor had to come in to find it. My tubes were open and clear though and they didn't find any uterine abnormalities.

Weirdly though, having since getting pregnant and having bleeding a few times throughout. They've found out I have a bicornuate uterus (heart shaped womb) which they said should have been picked up on all the TV scans I've had over the years and especially the HSG and hysterscopy.

If I I remeber rightly, they tell you to take some paracetamol and ibuprofen beforehand. I found it painful after the first 30 minutes but bearable. They can also give you a relaxant aswell if your feeling particularly tense beforehand.

I took the afternoon off work, and had period pains and light spotting for a few days afterwards. Nothing major.

Good luck, lots of ladies fall PG after having them!

Thank you so much for your reply! This has made me relax. I'm not bad with stuff like this generally but it's good to have a heads up on what to expect!

Its nothing to worry over honestly and if worse comes to worse they can give you a relaxant.

To give you abit of a laugh, when they brought the specialist dr in 45 mins after trying to find my left ovary, I was still up in the stirrups, naked from the waist down. He came into the room was looking at notes and not looking where he was going, tripped, and fell into me and ended up face first about an inch from my hooha!!! :rotfl:

Was quite embarrassing at the time but now I can look on it and laugh!xxx

Oh my god, that's hilarious! But it definitely wouldn't have been at the time! Haha! X
