Last night, I started to feel crap and my right boob started to hurt. During the night its got worse and worse and I now feel terrible and like someone has punched my right boob over and over. I've fed on the painful boob all night and tried massaging it while I feed (which was agony at times) but it doesn't feel any different. Should I go to the Dr/phone the MW? Is there any point? Can anyone do anything? What should I be doing in the meantime to try to help? I've been in tears in the night and this morning :'(

Oh no!

You are doing everything right. Keep feeding, expressing too might help. You need to clear the infection and keeping the milk flowing is the way to do it. It may be worth getting checked as depending on severity they may give you antibiotics.

Oh you poor thing.... But exactly WSS . Hope you feel better soon x

Maybe go doctors as you been suffering a few days now and trying to clear it, you might need antibiotics, I had it with my daughter, it's so painful I can totally sympathize. Hope you feel better soon x

Thanks ladies. I have a Drs appointment at 11.20 and I've borrowed a breast pump to express, just sterilising it now. Not in too much pain at the moment as I've taken some paracetamol and ibuprofen

I didn't think you could take ibuprofen if you were breastfeeding?

Oh dear. Hope. the doctor can post you out. They told me to take ibuprofen to help the stitches after giving birth so I'm sure its fine

Yes you can now take ibuprofen, they've made a u-turn on it! I've got some strong antibiotics from the Dr, she said I should start to feel better in 24-48 hours

Wicked!

I'm going to crack some open now.

Ignor my post on the other thread. I was getting confused.

I had this too, it's agony isn't it. Try putting a hot water bottlei in a damp towel on your boob.
I think it helps melt the lumps (yuk!) it helped me! Xx

I had mastitis after i had Paige it was really painful, i had to get antibiotics for it too. Hope you start feeling better soon xx

Feeling much better already. I definitely still feel very fluey when the painkillers and antibiotics wear off but they are really helping and my boob is much less painful :)
