My little girl has just smacked her face on the tv unit and has now got a big bruise just under her eye :-(

I feel like such a bad mum, I don't want to take her anywhere incase people think something bad. Even my sister said not to take her anywhere which has made me feel worse.
She is ok within herself, eating normally and didn't cry anymore then she would normally if she had hurt herself. Am I a bad mum? Just want to cry and don't want to let her play incase she hurts herself again xx

This is her bruise :-(

No, not a bad mum. These things happen from time to time.

Oh gosh be glad you don't have a boy.. If that would worry me than I could never go out with my son as he's like his mum clumsy #1 !

Thank you ladies, its just such a worry when they hurt themselves isn't it xx

You get used it! But then my son is a spit like me (clumsy) and a big time stunt monkey.. Wait until they start (or are able to) climb onto things.. Oh the joys of toddlers!

That's not that bad, and of course you're not a bad mum! My boy is always covered in bruises from falling over or head butting things

Don't let it stop you taking her out x

That's a great bruise :)

Look, if kids don't hurt themselves from time to time, they never learn to be wary of pain, and therefore never learn to "be careful".
Thinks like bumps and scrapes teach them to be aware of their surroundings.

Kids bump all over the place. No one will think anything of it, and if they do, so what?

Nothing at all about your baby getting a bump makes you a bad mum, I promise xx

It's really scary when they hurt themselves, but you're not a bad mum! My two have had their fair share of knocks. My son in particular currently has a couple of bruises on his head and a few on his legs from falling. I once posted on here because he'd hit his head 3 times in a row and had a huge lump on his head. He was absolutely fine. You'll always do your best to prevent them from hurting themselves, but accidents do happen xx

We've had a few accidents in our time. The worst of which was when I forgot to put the brake on and his pram fell down a few concrete steps!!! This involved an ambulance to a&e - and I still feel horrid when I think of it now 15 months down the line.

We recently had James' 2.5 year check and typically he had 2 bruises on his head. No one mentioned it though. I guess the HV knows kids bump themselves.

Please don't feel bad and certainly don't hide away.

X

Cam is always booping himself!

His legs are covered in bruises!

He's had a couple if right shiners on his face too!

All part and parcel if growing up.

Kids fall down! It happens!!

Doesn't make you a bad mum hun and you certainly don't need to hide away!!

XX

Thank you ladies, I think its because the cabinet is glass and she caught it straight on the bone so obviously it came out worse then it would of if she had caught it on something else. Xx

Don't feel bad.
Madison has fell out her cot, fell off my bed numerous times and also fell down the stairs from the top to the bottom.

No one will think bad if she has a wee bump on her face x

Just reinforcing what the others have said. As terrible as these things are for us mum's, it's all part of growing up and discovering for toddlers.

My son is currently sporting a bruised and scratched nose after climbing on a tree stump at the woods yesterday and falling off it face first!

Awww poor baby! Honestly hun don't worry about it too much. These things happen with kids. They are toddlers, they toddle about and are so unsteady on their feet.

Don't stay cooped up in the house. My boys (now 6 and 8) are always covered in bruises and always have been! They never sit still, they are always out playing football and bumping and bruising themselves.

I know as a mum it's part of the job to beat ourselves up and feel bad about things that happen to our kids, but seriously, it was an accident and no one will think anything.

I see kids with bruises all the time. I don't think "what bad parents"........ I think "blimey.... what trouble have you got yourself in to, to get a bump like that" lol.

You're definitely not a bad mom. Well if you are then so am I !!! :) My dd fell off my bed one day last week into the bedside cabinet and knocked under her eye on the bone in about the same place as your dd. As the bruise started to come out it looked awful, like she'd been punched in the eye !!! I still went out though so don't stay in because of it. At the end of the day toddlers will be toddlers and they are always getting bruises and I'm sure nobody would think anything of it xx

I know someone who had 2 really accident prone kids
At first she was like yourself... felt bad/guilty and worried about it
It happened that often that eventually... one was bleeding somehow and it became 'you better not get blood on that carpet! ' haha!!

My first thought was that's nothing! I'm used to big egg swellings and bruises with mine so honestly don't fret! If she's fine in herself then there's no reason to worry medically, and no one will think any bad of you - especially iif they've got kids of their own... All children get bruises!!

Bless her, poor thing. No you are not a bad Mum, if you are a bad mum then so am I - my daughter is so hyper running around like a loony that she is always falling over and bumping herself on things. These things happen, kids will be kids. x
