****February 2019 Mamas****

We can put him in the garden but he will bark; don't have a crate for him any more. But I have places I can put him; although he will bark if he's not happy being left on his own. That's just what we'll have to deal with I suppose for a while if need be. I'm really hoping he'll be a nightmare for a couple of days and then just get used to her always being there and almost get bored of the situation. He really isn't bothered about my son; which sounds awful but he just isn't. He'll cuddle him in a morning as they both basically pass out on the sofa every day before school, but that's about it every so often he'll go to him to play but not that often.

He tends to love babies and he doesn't like it when they cry (he gets concerned) I'm just hoping he doesn't get jealous with her being here all the time. We'll just have to make sure we fuss him plenty as well.

I'm so tired again today. Two weeks today and I'll have finished work and we'll be travelling to go to my brothers wedding. Scary thought haha I'm going to be so tired for that wedding. I'd decided I was staying at work until then as I'd already booked the day off and I felt like I shouldn't miss out on it haha. But looking back a week of rest before the wedding wouldn't have been a bad thing.

Fingers crossed it might be the start of something Phillipa.

Donna that's great news, really pleased for you!

Kholl, I'm hearing you on the lone parenting thing! Our business involves my OH working 3 really long days until at least midnight, and the thought of having to do bedtime on my own with both kids is worrying me! I'm sure it will be fine once we're in a routine but early on, when you're feeding on demand and keeping baby with you until you both go to bed....not sure how I'm going to juggle!

Phillipa, I've been getting quite a few period like aches too. I'm nearly 35 weeks, I just figure it's everything gearing up. I certainly wouldn't say no to being a week or so early! I went 4 days overdue with my son before I was induced, but I actually have no idea of my dates with him (I always thought they were slightly out as I was given a conception date of NYE and I know for a fact it wasn't then!), and he was only 7lb 5, so quite little.......so it will be interesting to see what happens this time.

BP is still behaving so keeping everything crossed it stays that way!

Gemsy, great your BP is behaving itself! Yeah, the solo evenings are no joke. I really feel like I can power through the day but having my husband here for bedtime and beyond is an absolute life-saver and when he's not here it's such a different story.

Donna, that's a tough call with the dog - didn't he snap at the health visitor? or am I imagining that? It can be really complicated navigating animals and kids and I hope that all works out well! Our dog is a barker too sometimes, we got him a bark collar for when he's outside (it just makes a high-pitched noise, doesn't zap him or anything) and he doesn't wear it anymore (it ran out of batteries and it's this special kind of little battery I haven't bothered to find again haha) but when he did I think it helped.

Phillipa, sounds like baby has dropped! I am getting a lot of the same low cramps and back pains.

Oh, and my nausea is back big time. This happens every time during the last month or so. It's such an awful feeling!

Yeah he did snap at the health visitor; little shite. He is a very defensive little thing, but like I say he has been around babies before and he loves them so I think he should be okay. My main worry is he will love her too much and want to be all over her and we don't want that we want him to learn to stay away from her and not bother her.

Bark collar might be something to look into; husband bought a device that does the same but you need to point it at him when he's barking and press the button which isn't always suitable as you need to have it to hand and also be there to point it when he's doing it.

Midwife appointment this morning so me and son had a bit of a lie in. Need to rush and get ready now though haha otherwise I won't be done on time.

It's so exciting how close we're all getting now, our symptoms aren't fun but at least they mean our babies are getting ready to show their faces. I can't wait.

God I hate men at times; my husband is great but he's also a right knob when he wants. He went to the shop from work and when I got home the fire alarm was beeping. So I rang him to tell him so he could get some batteries for them. He was asking which one it was (we have three) so I said it's the one on the top floor but it might also be the middle one; best to just buy 3 lots as if one is going the others probably aren't far behind.

Anyway I rang him to ask if he'd got them and to let him know it was really bothering the dog and he said yeah I picked up a couple (which annoyed me anyway as why not just pick up three so we've got them in for when the other two need doing) he then started saying the one that needs changing is the worse one to do as he has to get up on the ladder right at the top of the stairs. I just said that it's better that it's happened now than when babies here and he started shouting saying yeah I know it needs doing. It's like feck off; I wasn't having a go (even thought I could have done when he didn't buy 3 like I bloody told him to) I was just making the point that actually it's better that it's happened now rather than when we have a newborn and are stuck in the house with an awful noise that will upset the dog and possibly her as well. He's so sensitive sometimes when it comes to thinking I'm having a go, but he just ends up getting on the defensive instead which just winds me up because I don't appreciate him starting to have a go when I was making a valid point.

Anyway, my midwife appointment went really well. despite her making me feel sick and faint when she checked for the heartbeat and then weighing me which was another kick in the teeth. I know I've put too much weight on and was happy not knowing how much; now I know it's almost 3 stone so will be over that by the time she gets here. Shocking

Oh Donna so stressful, I'm sorry! For what it's worth, I always gain a ton during pregnancy. Like, a ton. Between 40-45 lbs each time. It's just what my body does. I'm already up 43 pounds from my pre-pregnancy weight. I am super active and eat incredibly healthy food, it just happens like that every time!

I've forgiven my husband now; think it was hormones but still... He's annoying haha

Yeah I know I haven't eaten 100% healthy but I've not been as bad as I could have been and I'm also very active. Suppose it could be worse and the weight can come off after; the important thing is our babies are healthy isn't it :) which it's looking like she is.

I really hope I don't make it to 41 weeks for my sweep as well, early Feb would be ideal for me. Shame we can't choose exactly haha

Oh my gosh Donna I KNOW, I mean even if we can't know exactly when baby will come I wish somehow I could know that (s)he won't be any later than x date... and I don't mean 42 weeks when I'd have to be induced! If I could just know I won't go more than 10 days late or something, that would help a lot. But I have lost count of how many fourth baby birth stories I've read where the women were like "my fourth was my latest! He was 13 days late! I was shocked!" Ugh I have to stop reading birth stories haha

If it makes you feel any better my sister's 4th was her only one that came early. She didn't believe she was in labour because he was 2 days early and she was adamant her babies were all late. It was her husband who told her he'd have to call the hospital because she couldn't sit on the sofa properly because of the pain; but even then she was in denial saying she couldn't be in labour because the others were all late.

Donna, you are giving me hope!!! That would be absolutely amazing!

Hi ladies,

Sounds like some of you are getting ready with the period and back aches! I felt babies head low in my pelvis towards the end along with the pain. Also stitch like pain in my side that morning of labour.

Donna - im same with the dog situation. We have her in the conservatory at the moment, and I've literally not really dealt with her at all as hubby and kids do it. She's a tiny pug, however a real barker.
We actually used one of the vibrating, sound collars and for 4 weeks she was a changed dog. She would attack people's ankles for attention and bark horrendously until we got one of these. It may help you for the first month at least.

Kholl - I have a home educated child to look after also, so the responsibility of that is huge alongside babyville! We do what we can do and make things simple. I snooze when he plays computer games in the afternoon if I can. Baby tends to feed all night and sleep for hours in the day, so I have to try and squeeze in some rest.

I look forward to checking in and seeing how things are going for everyone here. X

Def sounds like the collar is with looking into; ours is only a little one too. Jack Russell cross but sometimes the little ones are the worse.
It's such a shame as he's so loving with us, he spent all last night snuggled upto me and is currently sat between my legs. He has been closer to me lately than normal, I wonder if he's noticing that I'm getting ready. I reckon I still have a good few weeks yet though.

I tried on some outfits for the wedding today; so I know I do have some options. Hopefully I won't balloon too much in the next two weeks. I'd post some pictures but I looked a right mess (no make up haha) even tried on a dress I'd bought for after as a breastfeeding one just wanting to see how it fit over my boobs as wasn't sure if I needed to buy some bigger things for after but it fit lovely and is now one of my options for the wedding.

Has anyone or is anyone buying anything like spritz for bits? It's quite expensive but if it works is it worth it

Donna, can't wait to see pics of you in fancy outfits! And I bought a "sitz bath" spray and will be spraying pads with it and freezing them for comfort. But the best thing EVER is the numbing spray they gave me in the hospital last time. Dermoplast spray, it's called. They have assured me I'll get it this time as well.

Puglover, glad you can get some daytime rest and the boys are taking care of the dogs!

It's true that the little dogs can be the worst. when I was a vet tech we called them "land sharks," ha!

Hey ladies,

Donna hope the wedding is a lovely day and your LO stays put.

I've been recommended to use Spritz for Bitz but am yet to buy some, so gonna hopefully get on that tonight and purchase some.

My hospital bag and baby bag is all packed and ready by the back door to go in the car, need to give my car a proper clean out and hoover first though! May as well get the car seat fitting in too.

I noticed today that upon going to the loo, when I wipe I notice a very small amount of light pink discharge, is this likely from my mucus plug? I haven't noticed that I've officially lost it but I'm keeping an eye on it and have put a pad on incase it gets heavier.

It could be your plug coming away; keep an eye on it and if it gets heavier it may be worth calling the hospital for advice.

My bags still aren't packed properly. Just those last little bits and then they can go in the car. The carseat is all ready to go though.

I doubt she'll show up before the wedding, my sister's babies were all late other than the last who was only 2 days early. The only reason my son was 3 weeks early is because I was induced. I'm hoping I don't go past my due date, or at least not too far past it haha, but I doubt I'll be over a week early. We'll see though, it's all down to when baby is ready isn't it and there's no predicting that

I bought spritz for bits, got it from amazon. Even though a little more expensive, there was no delivery charge so worked out slightly cheaper.

I was 37 weeks yesterday. Had pains last week, apparently they were engagement pains and went away after a day or so. No signs anything else is happening yet.

Had scan on Wednesday, he was good. If nothing by my next scan (39+5) they’ll book me in for induction for following week.

I’m sooooo tired now though. I miss sleeping through the night now!!!

Finish work next Friday though, definitely ready for it now. xxx

It's nice that you're getting a time line of what will happen. It felt good when my midwife told me I'd be offered a sweep at 41 weeks - it makes it all seem like it is close to happening. Glad everything is looking good; hopefully he'll arrive before you have to be induced.

I can't wait to finish work. Two weeks on Thursday for me (although feels like Friday as I have the wedding on the Friday and I just know I'm going to be so tired after travelling all day)
