hey hun,

Had a smear a few weeks ago and got letter from hospital today to say i had minor changes and to go back in 6 months for another:wall:i go for my smears all the time and always had a normal result and now i am panicing (maybe a bit of hormones too)

Just another thing to worry about, now i am worried that if things go well this time i wont be able to have another and what if something is up  just want to cry

any advice? i know you know alot about smears

Thanks hun.

Really sorry that you have this to worry about - i just wanted to say that i know a couple of people, one of them my sister, who have had abnormal smears and had to go back for it to turn out to be nothing

One of mine was abnormal results but was fine, don't know if they'll repeat it for you now though given your change in circumstances :eh:

Thanks Lou, i also know alot of people who have been the same, just feel like its an extra worry that i dont need right now

As much as my sensible head is telling me everything will be fine, cant but freak out.

I was due to have a smear test as I am now 25 but due to pregnancy they told me to wait until 3 months after baby is born. Is this normal?

Also, nurse 26 I hope all is ok.xx

I'm not sure lulabell, we get smears her in scotland from age 21 so this is my third.

Hi Nurse,
I have had abnormal cells quite a few times, basically it is when they havent got enough info to say ok or not, so they just get you back to do another.
I had to go back loads of times once - in the end was all fine, but is worrying.

I also had my smear the other week, as docs know Im ttc, i asked what would happen if abnormal and I was pg, they said they would have to wait until after baby born.

Its just a precaution to clearly see the results as they weren't sure - dont worry yourself about that.

All will be fine. xxxx

I had my first letter through last week about getting a smear. The leaflet enclosed with it does say that they will ask you to come back for more tests once some abnormal changes have been seen. It says that the abnormal cells can return to normal by themselves and often women wouldn't know anyting about these if it had'nt been for a smear. Hope this helps xx

try not to worry nurse.

i used to have mild changes, they didnt' do anything about it for 2 years, just had to go back every six months for monitoring, eventually they just became 'normal' again themselves.

if it was anything to worry about they would have you straight in. xxx

Thank you pos! trying not to stress about it, will go speak to my GP and explain everything, hopefully get a bit of reassurance. xx

i had a smear test back in feb which resulted with slightly abnormal cells, i have to go back again in august! im hoping everything has gone back to normal! from what i gather from posting on here and reading online its actually really common! good luck im sure all will be ok! xo

Oh Hun you don't want advice from me lol!

I had a complete nightmare but I was at first told I was borderline which was no worry at all but on my second appointment the doc dropped into the conversation I was borderline CIN 3.

I was given the all clear in one letter and then told I was CIN 3 in another, I was going mental, anyway, I had a colposcopy in the end and precautionary biopsies and got the all clear.

Basically my advice would be this, go and see your GP as he/she will have a more detailed report than just the letter that says 'borderline' that will put you at ease.

I'm sure you have absolutely not reason to worry at all Hun although I understand it can't have been nice for you to hear.:hugs:

xx

Oh no didnt realise you had such a bad time, i'm glad it worked out though, your right i need to go to GP and get a better report of whats wrong, my sensible nurse head says everything is ok but think the letter got me a bit stressed out, feeling a bit calmer now :)

Oh good glad you're ok.:)

I've started on the book, I love it so far, I like the way it's a story too.

xx

Yes i enjoyed the story format too, some of the stories he tells are so inspirational. so easy to understand the science stuff the way he explains it. xx

Hi Nurse, I'm sorry to hear about your results. I know its easy said then done, but try nt to stress over it too much as it wont do you any good hun. I hope you have book your appointment with your gp to make things a little clearer. fx all is well for xx
