I've decided to start expressing a little, enough so oh can give him a feed when things get a bit much. I can only get 1-2oz at the moment. Question is, can I mix the 2oz I get today with 2oz I get tomorrow? I'm thinking this is ok as long as the whole lot is fed within 5 days of the first day? For some reason I feel like I shouldn't be mixing it but not sure why.

Yeah its fine to mix it, but like you said got to brme used within the 5 days. Remember aswell that your milk changes throughout the day, so its best to express at roughly the same time a day if you are going to mix it x

I was looking into this the other day and yes as Sara said you can mix it but was told you can't add the freshly expressed milk to milk cold from the fridge - they have to both be roughly the same temp when adding them together which is a bit of a pain. So basically just cool the second batch before adding it to the first. Have a look at this, ignore the bit about freezing but you get the idea!

I was told that as long as you werent adding more than there was originally then it didn't matter about temps. I.e. if you had 70ml in the fridge you could add 60ml but not 80ml ifykwim x

Hmm I think there's too many can and can't dos lol. It just said not to mix temps in a leaflet I was given so I asked my health visitor and at my breastfeeding group and they all said the same... I can't imagine it would do any harm anyway! Xx

I gradually make up a bottle over a couple of days as I don't get much in one go. I didnt know about the temp thing and I cant see that it has caused me any problems! *touch wood*
