Oliver has excema. He's always itching his belly & head. It's not so bad that he has scabs or anything yet - but just wondered if anyone had any tips on what works for making it better.

I use Oiltum in his bath & Diprobase cream on his body.

But is there anything else that'll help? i.e. I heard that using NO softner at all in the wash may help. I also heard something about putting oatmeal in their baths?

Cheers

Louise

No definatly no softer, no perfumed soap, bubble bath or shampoo either if its bad. Some of the eczema creams you get can also be used as a soap and to wash their hair. Oatmeal in the bath works brilliant too. Just put some porridge oats in a sock or old pair if tights for 5 minutes or so before they get in the bath. My daughter had really bad eczema for the 1st 12 months and the oats helped more than any of the stuff of the GP (except steroids)

We also use eco-balls rather than detergent in the wash, so nothing bad gets on his skin.

I've found Aveeno much better than oilatum on Sams skin. If anything I found after applying oilatum he'd scratch even more! You can buy it form bigger boots stores or get it on prescription.

xx

i was gonna say oilatum and doublebase. some foods can set it off too- refined carbs etc. try bathing every other day rather than daily :)

Thanks for your replies. Think I'll try the oatmeal in the bath.... If it doesn't work I can always make flapjacks
