EPI and assisted delivery

Mobile epi (can still walk around with help) and ventrouse delivery. Baby was back to back with a tilted stuck head. Let me push for 2 hours before stepping in when my BP dropped.

I think the link.is there buy who.knows if difficulties/pain arent actually the cause of epi? My son just didnt move down and i had mobile epi and was on my feet until 6 cm. I stopped topping up when it came to pushing and it made no.difference for pushing, just the pain. I think.there are many factors really but nobody can tell for sure esp if baby is back to back or in.awkward position

I had an Epi with AJ and had an assisted delivery (forceps). He was back to back and in distress.

I had an epi and i do believe that it was this that slowed my labour......i was so exhausted after 3 days i just couldnt push her right out, but she had gone back to back and needed to be turned while still inside me by the consultant..

i will try my upmost not to have an epi next time but if i need one, i would have one again cos it was the only time i got to have any sleep..x

I think there is a higher chance you will need assisted delivery with an epi as once you have the epi you generally lie down to deliver the baby which gives the baby less room to come out easily and gets stuck around the u bend. It will then get in distress or us mums get tired of pushing and they will need to use forceps/ventouse to get the baby out. Doesn't always happen but a lot of the time it does. That's what I was told in my nct class anyway - there were lots of colourful and graphic diagrams to go with this theory too :)

Yes knopk@!
If Katie wasn't stuck cos of her tilted head then I wouldn't of been needed to be rushed in with help getting her out. Was only cos of that and my BP dropping that I needed the help.

Not nessesarily my mum had no epi with me 36 hour labour and forcep delivery had epi with my sister and had an unassisted breech birth in 8 hours x

I had an epidural and needed the ventouse, but it wasn't because of the epi, the baby's shoulders were stuck x

I had an epi and gave birth naturally with just an episiotomy, although anethesist does say that with an epi the likelihood of assisted delivery is increased xxx

Is an episiotomy considered to be an 'intervention'???

Genuine question as I am not sure?

I think ventouse or forcepa are consiredered assisted delivery not sure abouy intervention

I had an epi and no intervention. I did have 2 have 2 midwifes present at the delivery because I was classed as a high risk of intervention due to being induced, and having epidural. So there must be some truth to it.

I do think it counts as intervention if they need to make a cut :( xx

I do think statistically it looks that way (epi&assisted) I did lots of reading up in it whilst pregnant.
