Has any one got a list of what they took?

How many nighties, babygrows etc did you need? Did you take anything for whilst you were waiting for your op? Is there anything else you felt of benefit that assisted with your recovery?

Thank you!

think my bag was just really the same as packing it normally!! I took more PJ's than nighties, infact didnt take any nighties in. I also made sure i had money for my little telly while i was waiting. But no think everything else was pretty much the same

Pretty much what was on a normal birth bag list! I also took all my homopathic stuff, the "luxury" (WTF!?!?! have you seen them!?!?) disposable knickers from Mothercare - there is a bit more to them, so they stretch over your wound, and a laxative  so that I could, errr, get myself moving to get home!

I went in at 7am and Mhairi was born at 09:31, so I didn't have any time to wait....infact, I hardly had time to get into a hospital gown!

If I remember anything else I'll let you know!

BIG pants that cover your wound, lots and lots of maternity towels (not only for blood loss, but I used them to protect my wound making it much more comfy!)
I took 6 babygrows and vests and used them all! (I stayed in 4 days)
You may need distraction while waiting for op if theres a long wait, so take a few magazines or a book.
Apart from that I had a normal packed bag (although mine wasnt a planned section)

BIG KNICKERS! Full cotton briefs are the best.. the bigger the better. DONT go for disposable ones. Everyone on here warned me against them but i didnt listen. They were awful and sooo uncomfortable! I would take a few nightshirts, lots of maternity pads and a few babygrows (i stayed in 4 days but mine was an emergency one and i had to stay on a catheter for longer due to an inflamed bladder). If you intend to breastfeed take some nipple cream (mine were battered by the end of it).

Just make sure you get the right pain relief and you ask for lots of help with the latching (again if you intend to breastfeed) I'm only banging on about this as i found it hard to get ollie latched on properly as i couldnt move (that was a pain relief issue though so im sure you will be fine). Remember it may take a little longer for your milk to come in aswell.

Good luck hun,

Claire x

I agree with Nori, I had disposable ones and they were crap! Just get some old granny pants!
AND in a bigger size than you are so they dont dig in. I bought my disposable ones in a 10/12...which is what I was at 26 weeks....but I was a 14/16 when I gave birth! So they were well tight

I got OH to go out and buy me big fat granny pants and they were so comfy! And I wore nighties as pj bottoms also dug in, my middle was so bruised anyway, so nighties were a god send!

Def HUGE knickers.......a size or 2 bigger than normal, and 4-5 pairs!!

I took 2 nighties and a pair of PJ's......I stayed in 3 nights, 4 days - could have done with another nightie, as got so hot and sweaty and PJ's were not comfy until 3rd day!

I also packed a CD for them to play during the operation, and remember to get you hubby to take the camera into the op theatre if you want photos of the birth etc!

My LO wore mainly vests, as the ward was so hot......some mums had their LO's wrapped in loads of blankets which must have been unbearable for them!

Apart from that I packed what I would have done for a natural birth.

Get an Arnica pillule pack and start popping 'em!

Good Luck, I'm getting so excited for you!
