edinburgh scale

Thanks honey. Its weird, just knowing someones reading whats going on in my head and reassuring makes me feel a bit more like a person rather than a bit nutty x

These people are callin themselves doctors? :wall2: I hope you get through to this next one hun, you know we're all here xxx

Thanks again for your support.
They have no appointments this week, and I have to be in uni all next week, so doesnt look like I will get an appointment til the week after, so at least can do it with my six week appointment (though at 7 wks..)
Im going to phone again tomorrow though and see if theres any way I can get an appointment tomorrow of friday. I just want to know they are listening to me and will help me. I know I'm irrational with the anxiety, but I can't stop it. Im scared of everything. This isnt living!
x

good luck i had a year on prozac then cloraphepamin[sp] with pnd after i od'd when dd was 3months old i had so much help once you find the right dr your get sorted alot of anti depress tabs are co liscensed to help with panick attacks as well when you ring surgery to book ask if they have a gp that deals more with either mental health or postnatal probs as most surgerys the gp;s like to specialise a little and good luck xxxx

I managed to get a doc appointment on friday. Another locum (are my GP surgery on permanent holidays?!), he also said get a paperbag!! But has put me on citalopram... never actually told me what they are! I just happen to know they are antidepressants as I was on them for ppd after my daughter was born. I'm only on 10mg a day though... with my daughter I was on 40 so I'm not sure the dose will be high enough for me... He said to come back in two weeks and see how they are going..
I dunno. I feel a bit better in that at least there is something now... but I just got the impression he was just giving me some tablet to shut me up you know?
xx

most GPs just want to print off a prescription and move onto the next patient, its not you hun. especially when theyre locums, theyve got no desire to build a relationship with their patients. they get about 6 mins per patient so they just want to know what you want from them so they can give itto you and keep within the time limit. i normally go to my GP with something in mind that i want. either the answer to a really specific question, or a prescription or a referral to another service. works for my GP!!

Thanks tiny thats a good idea. We have our 6 wk check up tomorro (7 and a half actually!) so I might ask them to refer me on again tomorrow, and see if they ever get the hint!
xx

Hope tomorrow goes well for you  Some doctors - despite being very intelligent - just don't have a clue how to deal with people, and so many don't seem to know what to do when it comes to depression. If they don't listen, make sure you keep trying until someone does though...PND is so common, and there is so much good help out there if you find the right people (it shouldn't be this hard, should it?)

I'm very lucky to have a fantastic GP who has recently had children herself, so she understands all these worries that new mums have - so there are some decent ones out there x

Hi,
The Gp said to stay on the antidepressants for a month and see how that goes... which Im fine with... but the anxiety wont go away! I know in myself that it won't, its not a new thing, so I know I need some kind talking therapy thing.... but I also know they hate referring people. So it looks like I'm stuck on them for a month and will go back and tell them it hasn't improved the anxiety. They have lifted my mood a bit... but not the panic.
On the plus, me and my boy are all fine physically xx

 sounds like youre being really sensible talking to your doc about it :yay: top mummy points for you :) theres usually a huge waiting list for talking therapies, but gps should still refer, otherwise there arent many referrals so it looks like the service isnt needed and funding will never get increased.
