Had a community midwife appt on Fri am and she picked up a problem with baby's heartbeat, so got referred straight to hospital for a trace (which was fine) and a scan of the heart. This also looked okay, but she said that the missed/extra heartbeats could be due to an immature pacemaker sending out dodgy electrical signals, and 95% of the time this sorted itself out before birth. Just wondered if anyone else had experience of this and what the outcome was?

Hey, I've not had direct experience myself but one of the babies in our NCT group had this. His mum just had regular monitoring. It sorted itself out from around 34 weeks & he's had no issues since being born. Hope that helps X

My son had ectopic beat and I picked it up myself 2 weeks before he was born! I also had a scan of his heart and a trace done. I was just monitored more closely during labour.
When babies take their first breath it starts there heart beating properly as all the time baby is inside you its you that is pumping blood to bub.
Hope this makes some sense.
My boy is now 10 months old xx

Thanks ladies - this is very reassuring. The fetal medicine unit rang yesterday and basically referred me back to the community midwife and said she would keep an eye on it and if it continues then she would refer me back, so sounds similar. Surely got to be a boy with all this worry baby is putting me through!! lol
