Hello everybody!
I just wanted to ask, to reassure myself really, if any of you other ladies have experienced anything like I have been experiencing.

I went to the doctors on Friday as I had really bad cystitis for a week and thought I would see if I could get some antibiotics. The doctor took a sample of my urine and when tested it showed no sign of the cystitis infection but it did show positive that I was pregnant. This was a huge surprise to me as although my husband and I had decided to try for a baby we had only just started to try in November and I hadn't anticipated I would concieve so quickly.

Although the doctor said I don't have cystitis I feel like I need to go the loo very frequently and it does burn when I have a pee, I'm constantly aware of my irritated feeling bladder, and last night and today my back has been really sore and I've been feeling a bit weepy.

Has anybody else had any of these symptoms or anything like them?

By the way my name is Lyndsay, and it's really nice to meet you all :)

Hi Lyndsay and congratulations!!
Did they test you for a urine infection? They're common in early pregnancy.
Other than that I'm not much help, but other ladies on here might be.
I've just been super sick!

Hi Buggy, thank you :) Yes they did test me for infection and said my sample was clear but just to give it a week and if it doesn't get any better to go back again, I'm just not enjoying feeling so sore and rubbish all the time :(
Oh no being sick is never good, hope that passes for you soon! I'm dreading that bit!

Drink cranberry juice or lemon barley (must be barley) then see how u get on they are natural killers of cystitis xxx

 hi welcome and congrats

i've been on and off with the burning feeling, in fact i had it yesterday, came on while i was walking around town but i got home and drunk plenty of fluids and it went! i guess all you can do is what your docs has said and go back in a week if your still the same! its an awful felling though aint it!? The back ache could be due to early pregnancy, i had this as well as cramping in my tummy in the very early days! sorry i cant be of much more help! xx

It definitely sounds a UTI so its bizarre that your urine sample was clear of infections.
I had one right after I conceived - I just drank lots of cranberry juice and it was gone within 2 days. Xx

Hi! Welcome to PF and tri 1, and congratulations :)

Sorry to hear you're having an uncomfortable time! I had bad backache when I first found out, and was told that was due to joints softening to make room for baby. And feeling weepy is normal - I cry at all sorts atm, just your hormones going a bit mental!
As for the burning sensation and uncomfortable feeling, it does sound like a UTI, which as Belle said, cranberry juice is good for. However, just to give a different view, the burning feeling can be a symptom of thrush, which is also common in pregnancy. Try natural unsweetened untreated yoghurt (putting a bit 'down there' - I know its messy, but its a really good remedy) orrr, less messy, have a shallow hot bath with some baking soda or salt in. Just don't take any oral medication for thrush as it's not considered safe during pregnancy. I might be completely wrong, but as your urine test came back negative, I thought I'd think 'outside the box'! Oo, also, the uncomfortable feeling in your bladder may just be your increasing uterus slowly pressing against your bladder.
Hope you feel better soon! xx

Ugh the back ache doesn't let up either, and you also have morning sickness to look forward to yet!!

Haha, I am only teasing. But the other day I did winge to my other half as I was trying to relax in the bath - "Noone tells you how much pain and suffering there is in pregnancy!". Thank goodness it calms down in second trimester - cannot wait!

Hope your burning sensations go away soon x

Thank you very much for the advice everybody, I am happy to report that my bladder problem now seems to have resolved itself and I feel pretty much normal down there again now :) My back still hurts like heck but atleast I'm not constantly running to the loo anymore - hurrah!
