Hey girls,

I called the hosp looking for some advice today on whether or not I've to take aspirin - I'm no further forward but the early pregnancy unit have advised that they will see me at 6wks exactly (Wed 8th Feb) for a scan. Can anyone say if they have had a scan at 6wks and if the heartbeat was visible? Or if anything was? What should I expect? X

Thank you x

i had one - its an internal scan and there is a heartbeat and a blob nothing much else. be prepared to not be as far on as you think tho! my first one i had i thought i was 6 weeks instead there was just a sac meaning i was less than 6 weeks x

At my 6 week scan just saw yolk and a small blob, then at my 7 weeks was much bigger with a strong HB. Dw if you don't see a hb xx

Heres my scan i had at 6 weeks. Wasnt an internal scan and saw and heard heartbeat too x

I had a scan at what I thought was 5 weeks 5 days, only to be dated at 6 weeks 1 day, see the yolk sac, fetal pole AND heartbeat. A week before though all I saw was an empty sac. Its possible you'll see a heartbeat if you're as far along as you think but be prepared your dates might be a bit off. The due date from those measurements puts my last period 3 days before I actually had it... so I may have ovulated 3 days earlier because I definitely didn't start my period on the date they have!

I didn't see a heartbeat so don't be worried if you don't I didn't see a heartbeat till 7 and a half weeks

Ok great girls thank you and thank you for the picture. I just don't feel pregnant at all, not a single symptom except a sore back so to be honest I'm preparing myself for them to say it's another MMC and for us to start trying again. I'm sorry to be so negative but I think it's easier not to get completely attached to bump before I know for sure xx

Hi please help
I found out I was pregnant and was sent for an early scan. I think I'm roughly 5 weeks.. there was just an empty sac this was the 20th of Jan and they told me to come back the 30th of Jan... anyway I have had brown discharge type of blood and I am terrified I've googled other forums and loads of women have said it's implantation or old blood and not to worry.. I went to Solihull hospital on the 22nd of Jan after work as I had this brown bloody discharge and the doctor was lovely she said it can be normal and smiled but also had to say she couldn't promise it won't be a miscarriage as I was asking which is understandable.. the doctor then got me an early appointment for today at heartlands to bring my scan forward.. however Monday heartlands called me and was really horrible.. the receptionist said the appointments canceled for today and will remain Monday the 30th when I asked why she said BECAUSE I told her about the bleeding so she put a nurse on and the nurse said it's because you can have a scan soon after you've had one which I get ... however I told her about the brown discharge and she said.. yes that's an early pregnancy loss please do not come the hospital unless you are bleeding heavily... and that was the end of the conversation so I'm left in tears thinking I'm going to lose it.. I did a test yesterday and two pink lines popped up straight away so I still have it.. the discharge brown stuff starts about a few hours and stops... is this spotting I don't understand.. I'm going to report the nurse at heartlands she had no right without looking at me to say that.. I have cramps..nausea.. sleeping alot.. gone off hot drinks sometimes light headed.. so I have symptoms.. is this normal please someone let me know I'm 21 and this is my first... I made this account for some kind of guidance I guess xxx

Has the discharge stopped? i had spotting and it was implantation bleeding but i was scanned after/during the spotting and there was a sac, 2 weeks later there was a heartbeat and 2 weeks after that i could see a tiny baby.

things progress quickly in the first few weeks, if your miscarrying its usually like a normal period, heavy and dark red/fresh blood and sometimes clots. Brown is old blood and if its just in your discharge is most likely what is left over from the implantation bleeding.

just try not to worry, easier said than done, but if you are to miscarry there is nothing you can do hun. you just have to wait and see - fingers crossed for you. xx

It started Sunday and was like a brown watery discharge kind of like the start or end of a period sorry for graphic details, then it stopped Monday and has happend again.. tbh I have slept with my partner and wondered if that could have caused anything.. his terrified to touch me lmao.. I was so gutted they way the nurse said it's a miscarriage over the phone, I'll update when I go back the 30th xxx

i have what they call an ectropion on my cervix and this can bleed when we dtd i have had a few bleeds, many woman have them, may be worth asking for them to look at your cervix, doesnt harm the baby.

is it a constant bleed?

No its not constant it starts and lasts for a few hours and stops.. it's fine at the moment nothing at all I keep checking like a mad person lmao.. xxx

if you were miscarrying you would now, the midwife says if you put a pad on and its covered in an hour your likely to be losing the baby.

and the blood is different its like a dark red/fresh blood. where as when i bleed its pale pink/brown blood and normally just when i wipe

You've made me feel so much better! Thank you.. just struggling with feeling sick everything is making me feel vile I can't even have tea or coffee or any hot drink at all it makes me want to heave... I start my final part of uni next week and I'm worried I won't cope with the sickness and tiredness especially with work on top I can't seem to be excited that I'm pregnant at the moment ;( xxx

alot of people spot also after doing the deed due to the blood flow to the cervix and it being more sensitive!

fingers crossed for you i had alot of smell aversions when i was first pregnant and even now i struggle with some smells.

you will get through it there are tablets etc you can get from the docs to stop being sick, try ginger biscuits, or ready salted crisps, i lived off ready salted crisps, keep nibbling little and often to keep the sickness away.xxx

Thank you!! I've been eating them reni chews lol they don't do much I'm yet to try the crisps aha thank you xxx

they were my life saver and now im further on i have a aversion to them!

but living off gaviscon due to heartburn 24/7

I went for an early scan today. I made it 6 and 6 days but they dated me at 6 weeks although they forgot to measure baby. The team were lovely and they said they could see a heartbeat. They showed me the screen, if I'm honest I don't think I saw the heart beat myself so I think it's tricky and you need a well trained high. I am going back in 2 weeks.

Although it is possible to see a hb at 6weeks. There was a lot of using and after. You may also be like me and not as far along as you predicted so do try to relax when you go.

Best of luck x

Thank you Mrs I'll try for the next few wks to relax, it's iust so hard when you so desperately want to be pregnant xx
