Dyeing my hair

I haven't found out for definate whether I'm expecting or not, will be finding out within a week or so for sure. I was just wondering if anyone knows the specifics as to why dyeing your hair during pregnancy is frowned upon? Because my roots are in desperate need of a touch up.

The main issue as I understand it, is that due to hormonal changes, colours may not take as they normally would. Some people like to wait until after the first trimester to use colours. If you dont even know if you're pregnant, I'd say get on with it because nothing passes to the foetus in the very early stages ie before you even know you're pregnant.

I just steered clear of ammonia based dyes so no permanents

A semi with no ammonia should be fine and won't turn your hair an odd colour

hello i used to work in a salon dont bleach if you want to be extra safe as thats got too much ammonia in it permant dyes are fine its just if you pregnant the hair growth you have through is different to when you werent pregnant so it takes differentally sometimes patchy but this only occours now and then at your stage it wouldnt make a difference hun. Wouldnt do anything to damage bump either but its up to you if your too worried just have a semi or quasie (sp?) its been a long time its like a semi permant that last allot longer like 12 - 24 weeks rather than a few washes x

i look like a wierdo with it half and half, i guess ill wait to bleach it when bubba it born haha!

hey im a hairdresser.... for my sins lol!!! all colours are fine .... bleach should never be applied on scalp anyway but in foils its not even touching scalp so thats fine!! as a woman whos dyed loadddss of preg peoples hairs inc. my own iv seen no probs!! if you have dark hair and little or no grey get your hairdresser to stick to a quasi colour they come in most dark shades aswell so it will look the same and they will understand you being wary so dont be afraid to ask!! xxx
