The choice is yours. I personally aim to feed Ellie at 7:30, 10:30, 13:30, 16:30, 180, 19:30, and dreamfeed at 23:30. If Ellie is not awake (and hasn't already demanded that feed ) then I will wake her for these feeds (except the dreamfeed where I will feed her without waking her). Another school of thought says that they will wake and demand there feed when they want and need it. However I found Ellie would go 4 hours during the day for feeds in the first few weeks but then would suddenly need feeding after 2hrs every now and then and that would sometimes fall during the night so I fed her more often during the day to make sure she didn't end up need more frequent feeding during the night.
When leorah was first born I was advised not to let her go 3 hours without a feed because she was early but now she's putting weight on fine i feed her when she wants and luckily this is around every 3 hours and then during the evening more often and then she sleeps up to 5 hours a time at night. I'm sure she's wake up if she was hungry unless she's a really sleepy baby. Go with your instincts Mel, you know your baby better than anyone
