How much is okay to drink when breastfeeding? I didn't have anything to drink during the whole pregnancy, and have only had one glass of wine since he was born. Is it okay to have a few once in a while when breastfeeding?

not sure, but bet he will have a marvellous nights sleep!!!! You could always express enough for the night time and maybe even the next day that way you can have a really good drink!!

It depends what you mean by a few. I think a couple of glasses of wine should be fine. One or two drinks but no more. If you're having more then I would express beforehand.
Bear in mind that alchohol alters the taste of breast milk, so LO may be fussy at the breast if you've had a drink.

i had one glass of chmpagne i read somewhere it takes 2 hours to get out of my millk so had a drink as soon as i had fed him

Thats not a good idea at all it will mess up your supply for the next day. Also if you have " a realy good drink' the next day your milk have i high content of alchol and you wont be able to feed your baby in the morning, and that evening you will have trouble bfing becuase you missed the feeds the night before. :?

Also I would say upto maybe 2 glasses is fine and drink plenty of water after, drinking really isnt the be all and end all really is it?
I have had one or too sinse having Olivia and to be honest id rather not bother nost of the time I dont want to put my breastfeeding relationship in jepordy just so I can have a few more drinks :)

When I drank alchohol it made no difference to her sleep, if anything when I have drank a half glass of beer it has upset her stomach, so at that time didnt sleep well.

well don't I feel stupid, consider myself told! :(

 sorry if I sounded harsh hunny

Breastfeeding is hard enough, I just didnt want her to make it harder for herself :) as she has being going for a month now and her nilk wont be established yet, having missing feeds especialy at this stage will make it really hard and it will be like starting all over again

I had the odd glass of wine with a meal and made sure I drank loads of water afterwards.

I've had 2 drinks since she was born, a nice glass of Pinot Blush over lunch last week....mmmmmmm......& a bottle of beer the other night.....which I didn't finish it though was too fizzy after so long without drinking :shakehead:

Will make sure I drink plenty of water after my next glass of Blush :D

Like others have said id say a couple will be fine once n a while

my m/w said there is no harm in a galss or 2 of wine, preferably with food and after a feed.

To keep your milk supply she suggested pump and dump!!

She suggested that a glass of wine would relax me and that would benefit him too. :)
