my cousins girlfriend had a baby 6 weeks ago, and she's giving me her doppler at weekend.

ive no idea what make it is or anything, so no idea if its any good, but hey its free

just wondered if theres any tips - like how to tell if youve got the right heartbeat and not confuse it for the placenta pulse etc

also, is vaseline ok to use with them?

and...... can using it too much harm in anyway?

anyone get frustrated with theirs because they couldnt find it?

sorry for all the questions!! lol

It take some perseverance but you will get there hun, dont expect to find it straight away and you will be fine. I checked my pulse at same time as using doppler (can be tricky lol) and made sure it wasnt my own I was hearing.

Not sure about vasaline, maybe have a look on internet? U can get huge tubes of the transmission gel really cheap off ebay too. There is no evidence that using a doppler can harm your baby but there is also none to say it wont, I use mine a couple of times a week and I really cant see it doing any damage to be honest.

i got mine yesterday and am still learning with it, so cant help you much im afraid but it will be fine im planning on using mine everyday :D

I only used mine once, was nearly sure I heard baby's heartbeat, but planning to use it again tonight - now that I heard your babies heartbeat I have a better idea of what I am looking for so thanks
Im really scared of hearing nothing and freaking myself out altogether

thats why im getting one.
she asked me if i wanted it a few weeks ago but i said no because id end up panicking.. but now i cant for it because i know im looking for train/horses lol

look at this site i found

http://www.fetaldopplerfacts.org/facts/ ... sounds.php

you can click on 8 weeks and 24 weeks on the right hand side... and it also has placenta and womb noises too

I never got one in the end. Didn't want to freak myself out with fear, Im a bit prone to panic attacks, so hubby's ruled it out. Kinda means you miss out though :(
