HELP...........................

I knew it may be really early but Ive been testing with my dopler, cant hear a thing lol (Too early I think at 12 weeks) :wall:

In terms of positioning anybody got any clues, is it higher up or lower down ??

Think I might put it in my drawer until later, before panic sets in that theres something wrong with the baby.

Ok when you first start looking do it VERY low down, on your knicker/hair line almost, that's where you will first hear it and most people report it being on the left or right hand side rather than in the middle. 12 weeks might be too early to detect it depending on the doppler you have. Angel Sounds seem to detect earlier but some say 20 weeks etc on them so they vary so greatly. You'll be able to pick up the placental flow (whooshing sound) earlier one, this is the blood flow to the baby from you, it's basically a mimic of your heartbeat - once you have found that it's easier to determine what is and isn't the baby when you are hearing other noises. It took weeks and weeks for baby to move up enough so I wasn't doppling on my bikini line and now he seems to have gone back down that way again....good luck you'll find it soon enough, 12 weeks is kinda early, even the midwives don't listen at the 12 or 16 week appointments because they don't want to alarm you if they can't find it, she did listen to me at 20 weeks because I'd told her I'd been listening to it for ages from doppler I had at home but she was hesitant even then!!

Depends on what dopplker you have too, i think anything thats not a angel sounds or MW doppler arew useless, i got one from argos and at 31 weeks i still cant hear feck all.

I didn't hear anything until about wk14. You do need to be really low on your bikini line to hear it.
Put is away for a week and then try again - I had to get my husband to hide mine because I was getting stressed not hearing it.

Hi there

I have the angel sounds fetal doppler and found it to be fantastic. I started using it around week 11-12 and was quite confused about the sounds I was hearing. Try the link above. Someone else recommended it to me. It is fantastic. It will let you know exactly what you are hearing.

As for the positioning, I still find it difficult to find my baby's heartbeat but when I do, it is very low down and slightly towards the right.

Hope this is of some use to you. Don't worry about finding the heartbeat. Everyone is different and sometimes baby might be in the wrong position to hear it. xxx

I got that one from argos as well. I hated it and thought it was crap at first but I love it now and use it almost every day.
I could hear the heartbeat from about 20 weeks. It used to be really quite but it's louder now.
