Hi everyone

I'm new in here! Bought pregancy test this morning - was due period today but no sign. Also been having some awful hormonal back ache which kept me awake last night. Its the sort of back ache you get with a period but I have never experienced anything as bad as this before or for so long. Anyway bought a Tesco test kit and even though did everything by the instructions I have a strong line in the pregnancy window but a very very faint line in the control window. I've checked that I do have them the right way round. The instructions say this is invalid but can you get a srong line in the pregnancy window if you're not pregnant?!!?

Thanks!

Hiya... I am not an expert with pregnancy tests...they do my head in to be honest. But as a general recommendation I would say buy another pregnancy kit and do it with your first wee of the day perhaps tomorrow or the day after and see what it says. If your period still hasn't arrived in a weeks time do another pregnancy test, and see what it says.

Generally even if the lines are faint I thought they still counted (but it's best to stick to the instructions on your pack).

Anyway good luck and let us know how it goes x

One of the first response tests that i did, the control line was faint, and the "pregnant" line was almost red.
If you've got the pregnant line then its probably a positive, but i'd do another test just to check.
Heres a picture of my weird looking result test...

Kiko's right, if you're testing that early you need to do it with first wee of day as hormone levels are stronger then. If the instructions say it's not valid, I wouldn't take too much notice, but don't want to disappoint you! Get another one and do it first thing tomorrow and let us know immediately! Whatever we say you know you're not going to stop wondering if it really means it until you get a test that agrees with the instructions  Good luck

OK I am a dooshbag, the control is normal and the test line is very faint. Clearly I cant follow instructions. Prob best to wait a few more days and see what happens and test again if still no period. Maybe its faint as was just a tesco one and strictly speaking I'm not a day late until tomorrow.

thanks for all your replies - will let you know !

well it sounds like congratulations are in order then!!!!!

A faint line is a line! Mine were barely noticeable with the last two (I thought I was imagining them) but digi confirmed it

Congratualtions and welcome to first tri  :cheer:

A faint line is definitely still a line, so congrats to you! It's faint cos it's so early - hcg levels only just started going up, if you want to confirm do it again in a couple of days with morning wee, but it doesn't matter how faint it is you're pg if it's there! Welcome to you

Mine was quite faint when I did it on the day my period was due. I repeated it the following day, but it was in the middle of the day and I'd drank buckets of water and it came back negative but I didn't believe it. Repeated the following morning with the first wee of the day and the line was much much stronger. So the moral of the story - try and catch your first wee of the day or you will ave no money left for nappies as you will have spent it all on pregnancy tests.

Good luck!!!

congratulations!!

Do you know when you will be due?

I had exactly the same with my test with my son who's now 3 even before doing the test i knew i ws pregnant but it was still a shock! Congratulations tho pleased for you

Hubby and i trying for baby no2 still no joy yet tho

hmmm, my guess would be that the strip inside has been put in upside down???

still, its 2 lines so its a positive! congrats

if ur not sure splash out on a clearblue digi! x

wen i did my test it came back negitive, about 20 mins later looked at it and it was posotive think i looked at it to soon, the line was very faint but they say you cant have a false negative :) congratulations xx

Hi everyone

Thanks for all your messages. I am pregnant ! I did the clearblue digi one tonight and it came up pregnant pretty quickly. Conception 2-3 weeks! I am still in shock we only had one month and cant believe it happened that quickly!!!!

So far:- horrendous backache and a bit of heartburn but thats it. Dreading any sickness.....fingers crossed.

Is it ok to take painkillers when pregnant? Sorry for the silly question!

Thanks

Yes but be careful which ones and what dosage. Paracetamol in low doses is def okay but think there are some you should avoid.

congratulations really pleased for you keep us all up to daqte on how things are going.

Congratulations :)

As just mentioned paracetomal is okay.

You taking folic acid? x

Hi everyone

thanks for your messages. I have been taking folic acid the last couple of days. Not feeling sick yet but think I am nervous about that happening! Always been one of my worries. Anyway reckon I am only 4 weeks 4 days just now. Made an appt with the GP but cant even get one until next Tuesday anyway!

Other than that I feel less than 100% in the morning and always feel better after a big lunch! Sore back continues and bit of breast tenderness although it almost feels sore under my armpits than the whole breast area - very strange!!

Cant imagine waiting 8 weeks for a scan.........................!

the time will pass... slowly, but it will! If you don't already eat brekkie, try and get into the habit now - it really helps once ms kicks in, witness your feeling better after big lunch! you need food for energy even at this stage so eat as well as you can when you can!
