Hey All!

I always pick up my dogs poo when I walk her. One of my mates today said she had heard that if your pregnant you shouldn't pick up dog poo!

Does anyone know if this is correct? I hoping as long as I wash my hands afterwards its ok.

I couldn't walk her & not pick up her poo, I would feel bad & it's not nice for other people, plus she is a Lab & her poo's are like Mr Whippy's so I think she would become a public health hazard!!

Can anyone help?

Lou x

I've only heard that cat poo is bad, never heard anything about dog poo, just make sure you wash your hands well when you get home!

I've read its cat poo too.
But that's not what I told my OH during my pregnancy!

I only thought it was cat poo and cat litter trays you have to stay away from.

Yeah ive heard its cat poo/litter
but i used to wear gloves to pick up my Doggiem Sheara's poo
or you could invest in a poop scooper.

as long as it dosnt get on your hands or if it does you wash them then your should be fine.

as far as i know its just cat poo. Ive read that obviously you need to take care with other animals poop (wash hands, wear gloves if poss) but cat poo is the major one to avoid.

Glad you pick it up :D . There are some right swines near me who dont so its like dog poo city on the walk to school :x :puke:

Cat poo is the one thats bad for pregnant ladies and dog poo is the one thats bad for babies/children from what Ive read.

Yeah its mainly cat poo, but if your worried perhaps you could get some anti-bacterial wipes to take out with you just in case?

Nice one for picking it up though, theres someone round our way who doesnt bother and it always seems to be right by our front gate :wall: :x

Thanks for you replies! I will just be extra cautious & make sure my hands are germ free!

It's so annoying when people don't pick up after there dog, there is always dog poo outside my garden fence & I'm sure I know what irresponisble dog owner it belongs too. I'm gonna say something too her if I catch her not cleaning up after her dog. Especially as it's outside my house & I have a dog people might think its me not cleaning up :wall:

I'm clearing up my dog poo. SO long as you wash your hands after it should be fine.

If you are really worried buy one of those little small portable bottles of hand sanitizer (the sort they use in hopistals) and give a squirt of that over your hands each time you drop a doggy bag off.
