Does midwife test?

Nowhere can I read online that the midwife tests you at your first appt to make sure you're pregnant? do they just take your word for it that you're pregnant & refer you for your scan? Or do they actually test you? Xx

Most places in the UK just take your word for it. You'll get your first scan at 12 weeks

Ours don't test. The tests the GPs have aren't any different to the ones you can buy so there's no benefit from them doing another one.

My midwife didn't test me, neither have drs when I've needed support in the past x

This is something I find very bizarre, I'm now ten week pregnant and aside from the three positive tests I had, I didn't get a medical proof that I'm pregnant. The gp ordered some blood tests but not the one to detect if I'm pregnant and my first appointment with the midwife will be next week so I will have to wait the New Year when I will be 13 weeks to have a proof with the scan!

When I told my GP I was pregnant he took a urine sample and had it tested to double check the pregnancy. I thought this was done everywhere??

My doctor didnt test nor did my midwife

My doctors weren't bothered about testing as they said two tests was enough evidence that I was pregnant, but when the midwife came when I was 6 weeks pregnant she taken blood and a wee sample testing everything like hcg levels I think and other stuff. They would only contact after the results of there was something wrong. There wasn't. Xx

My gp didn't test me either for the same reason. Will have the first appointment with the midwife next week, I will let you know

I was not tested with my first but I was with my second. That being said I was 11 weeks when I went to doctor with my first and she found heartbeat with Doppler. I was only 6 weeks going to doc with this one and my urine was tested and pregnancy test done to confirm. X
