Well when i had Isla my blood pressure dropped quite low and kept getting lower and this time it is already really low, i dont understand the number but i think it was 94/72 or something like that, doc said its a wonder i'm standing. I feel dizzy and faint all the time and told her that but she just smiled and said get mw to check on booking in appointment which is 4 weeks away!!!!

I am worried if it continues to drop i will get ill and loose conciousness and not be able to watch Isla safely.

Does anyone know what would happen if it keeps dropping like last time?

I think the top reading should be 100 + your age, and the second should be 60 or something!! (Although ignore me, I'm just trying to remember what my paramedic friend told me 2 years ago!!)

Not sure what to suggest with it being low though hun?
Make sure you rest plenty though

Had a look on a few sites - don't recommend you doing that.

Basically they say that you will feel faint and light headed, and the best thing to do is lie down as this makes the brain closer to the heart (or something like that  ) so the heart doesn't have to work so hard to pump blood to it, relieving the symptoms.

The reason you get dizzy is that low blood pressure affects your organs, starting with the brain. (apparantly)
The reason I said for you not to investigate on the internet as it is quite hard core and not appropriate to your condition which is pregnancy related. Plus, if it was that bad, the doctor would have given you medication there and then.

Use it as a good excuse to do bugger all at home

kelly if u can get on msn later i can explain all about the difference of the 2 numbers (systolic and diastolic)

120/05mm hg is a normal reading by text book, the top number is the pressure of your arteries when then heart pumps blood through them and the bottom number is the pressure when ur heart relaxes.

90/60mm hg or lower is when dr would class it as being low in a young adult, and low blood pressure is early stages of pregnancy are very common due to changes in the amount of blood in body, when u go from sitting or standing just take it slowly and allow body to adjust to it.

hope this helps hun, eating lots and then quickly moving will make u feel faint as ur blood will rush to your digestive system, so watch when u stand up after dinner.

talk later x

I think your BP is ok. At night, mine always falls to around 95/55. It does get lower in early pregnancy too.

My usual BP is 110/65 which is in the lower range of normal - ie, healthy.

I don't think you have anything to worry about in all honesty :)

For a young, healthy adult, normal blood pressure is about 110/70, but generally, the lower your blood pressure is, the better. If you have a reading of 140/90 or more, you have high blood pressure, also known as hypertension. If your blood pressure is high, your GP may give you advice about how to lower it by making some simple lifestyle changes, such as altering your diet, giving up smoking, and taking regular exercise. Alternatively, you may be prescribed drugs that will help to reduce your blood pressure.

Low blood pressure is also known as hypotension. People with a reading of around 90/60, or less, are commonly regarded as having low blood pressure. If you have low blood pressure, to a certain degree you have some protection against factors that increase blood pressure, such as eating too much salt, not eating enough fruit and vegetables, or being overweight. However, some people who have low blood pressure may experience symptoms, and there may be an underlying cause.

Mine is 100/60 but recently it read 130/80, doctor slapped my hand for this but I haven't been well and under a lot of stress. They have told me not to add salt to anything and eat more greens to help bring it down.

You could have a low blood sugar count, have they checked for diabietes yet? Might be good to ask them if they can, just to keep your mind at rest?

I am anemic, so my blood pressure can go low to 90/40 at times but thankful not during this pregnancy! Phew! They doc just told me to drink sugar water, ewk! and rest, lay on the floor with your feet above your body (heart), this should be done duriong a pregnancy anyway to reduce any feet swelling and such but will help you with giving your heart less work to do.

Thanks guys i am not diabetic as had a test for that before. It has gotten lower now i am not worried about the figures too much just that i shouldnt be driving etc and know i will keep passing out.

Been adding more salt to food and sugar too, yuk!
