I asked my doctor if we could get tested and she said not until we had been trying two years (we have been trying 18 months sigh....) but she said we could go private. I asked her what that might cost and she said she had no idea. Anyone done this? I have tried using the ones off the internet but they dont seem to do anything and I'm tired of wasting money. Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure myself hun, but I know Ema-Lou looked into a few things in this area so she will probably be full of info for you xx

Hi hun, why wont they test you until 2 years?? Ive just started tests with my doc and ive only been ttc 12 months... ?? xxx

they should send you for tests...18 months is another ttc.
you can normally get a sperm test done on the nhs.

i would go back in 2 months if you done fall and get the tests started....

its all about pushing the doctors...

They should do the initial tests now on the Nhs...it's the treatment etc they won't do till 2 years...but that depends on wot or if the problem is...my friend wasn't ovulating and they started treatment after 6 months ttc cos basically the doc said it made no difference how long they ttc for,she still wasn't gonna ovulate! She has a healthy 3 month old little girl now...naturally conceived after treatment and an op x

You can go private, but I haven't got a clue what it would costs, I would think quite alot as private is always alot dearer! You can have tests done on nhs, like sperm test and you can have a internal as well within the 2 years of TTC, but treatment will not be offered on NHS, if there was something wrong until after 2 years of TTC.

Good Luck and I do hope you get the answers you are looking for

Donna xx

I'd push for tests hun. We were referred after just over a year for tests and to see the consultant, we also did our own home tests first and all the results did were scare the pants off us both so I personally don't rate them, but they were about £10 if I can remember correctly (I think they were on offer at the time).

Could you go and see a different GP? 18 months is long enough without some answers. Good luck hunni xx

I've had no experience of them sorry. But what do you mean the internet ones don't do anything?
