from Princess_Puddles about organ donation was jsut wondering how many of us gave blood? i tried to but was told i couldnt at teh time as i was too anaemic but wish i could
I hate needles, but came up with the idea of when they are taking blood as routine, why dont they offer to donate blood then, as the needle is already in place, they might aswell!!!
I've done a couple in the past, I stopped for a while because they made me feel terrible. I was just about to go and do another when I found out I was pregnant.
so do i, but i managed to deal with it a load better when pregnant. I keep meaning to donate blood, so i can keep on top of my phobia (if that makes sense).
my nan has donated so much she has books, and glasses and plates etc.
also, when i know i can dedicated one morning every three weeks, i donate platelets. you get hooked up to a machine and it filters your blood and takes the platelets out and gives you the rest back.
hoping to be able to do it again when i have this baby
I do when not pregnant
I started because I had a needle phobia and knew I was going to have children one day so if I couldn't face a needle it might be tricky whilst being pregnant I mostly always faint afterwards and I still dislike needles but the humble feeling you get walking out after donating is priceless and I would recommend it to anyone, the staff there are truly amazing, friendly, beautiful people, oh and you get free juice and chocolate too
