i want to make people aware they can donate their breast milk, i have just had my 3rd baby and i never knew i could do it, i have alot of breast milk and flows all time.
my midwife told me about donating i left it a couple of days and had a look on the internet to see what was involved.
see the list below of the critiria
you are NOT allowed to donate if
you smoke or use illegal drugs?*
you routinely drink more than 2 units of alcohol per day or 3 cups of caffeinated coffee or other caffeine-containing drinks per day (cola drinks, sports drinks, Red Bull etc)?*
you tested positive for HIV 1 or 2, Hepatitis B or C, HTLV l or ll or syphilis?*
or have had a blood transfusion
Every drop of milk is valuable and small or sick babies benefit from even the smallest quantities of breastmilk. Premature babies will often start with less than 20mls per day. One ounce of milk will feed a tiny premature baby for 1 ½ days.
