Hi girls

Had my little man 4days ago and just wanted to know whats the usual for blood/mucus discharge.
I havent got lots of blood loss but a little yellow mucus, does anyone else hsve this. Just dont want to worry over infection xx

Hi ya, congrats on the arrival of your LO. I didn't have any yellow mucus afterwards - did you have a normal delivery? Are you due a visit from your midwife again in the next day or so? If so I'd mention it to her just incase you have picked up an infection. Is your temp raised at all? Do you feel ok?

hi hunni

he was suctioned out and i was cut, then i lost 1100mls of blood and had to have a blood transfusion.
just not sure if its ok, its not foul smell but a weird smell and ive also had shivers n cold but thats stopped now as i was told it could be milk fever xx

Wilson, my blood loss has slowed and now I have a yellowish discharge, I also think that it smells a bit more than it usually did before birth but I put that down to the blood loss as I generally feel well in myself. If your worried though speak to your midwife next time she visits.
I also had a ventouse delivery and a cut :) x

How much blood did u loose? Mine was 1100mls, hsd a transfusion and had a 7.4 iron level :( currently 9.4...my community midwife is shite, so mad with her, my 2nd day home appt yesterdsy told me she would be here at 11.30 never shows up , no call, so i rung her at .2.30 and said you was coming at 11.30????? Sorry its been busy and im in clinic now! Do u really need me to call???? YES!! Xx

That's really bad of her, make sure to keep on at them though so you get the care you deserve!! I didn't have a big blood loss during labour so didn't need a transfusion x

Ended up at the dr's today, feeling so weak :( got an infection on antibiotics, she said i must rest because i look so weak, and im just not eating or drinking much :(( xx

Oh no! Hope your feeling better soon! :hugs:

I lost a lot of blood too, and I ended up with a kidney infection shortly after delivering so you have my full empathy!

Make sure your getting B12 and folate as well as iron with your iron levels x

Yes, a good postnatal vitamin is fine, or you can take B12/Folate and iron separately. B12/folate is water soluble so you will just wee out any excess, and spartone at least is perfectly safe whilst your breast feeding.

Made all the difference to me and I lost a huge amount of blood really, especially taking my size into account x
