I have a god awful tooth ache and have had it on and off for about a month I have this huge phobia of the dentist but we won't get into that  i finally am going to pluck up the courage and get myself an appointment tomorrow hopefully as I cannot stand the pain anymore

I have a very strong feeling I'll require a filling of some sort tomorrow, but are they safe to have during pregnancy? I'm still in first trimester, I'll be 12 weeks this Friday, I've received different reviews saying not because of the mercury in metal fillings and to opt for white ones instead to yes their safe and so is the anaesthetic!

I can't decide :/ anyone had fillings in pregnancy?

Not had one, but your dentist will be able to advise you in safety. One positive is that it's free when pregnant!

I'm having three today :( they advised me they are safe but they are unable to take X-rays ect

Thanks guys :)..nothing now until Wednesday!! :/ woke up this morning with no pain so I'm relieved in a way but slightly annoyed I have to wait until Wednesday to have it sorted :/

Had one when I was about 20w in my first pregnancy, they used the white filling and all was fine.

My dentist wouldn't do mine, it is booked in for when my baby will be 15 weeks old instead. I needed xrays though and luckily it doesn't hurt as I broke it in January!

Thanks carnat!

Back from the dentist and he couldn't see any problems or anything concerning when he looked in my mouth :/ I had my teeth tapped and prodded and had cold air pumped on to them to try and make them hurt but nothing :/

Couldn't have an x-ray! But told me to come back if they start to hurt again! If not he'll see me in 6 months! He just put it down to extreme sensitivity and gave me some toothpaste to see if that would help the pain

I got myself so worked up and for nothing! :P
