I have finally contacted the national debt people after deciding it is no use continually burying my head in sand reagrding my financial situation.
I have around £14k of debt and no way to pay it off.

My concern is that I am in privately rented accomodation and need to move soon - has anyone had any experience of trying to rent privately while being in some kind of debt plan and can you tell me if it stopped you from being able to rent?

I am really scared x

I was in an IVA a long time ago. I rented a flat & had my mum lined up to be guarantor just in case but the rental agency did a credit check & said it was fine to have it in my name so it want a problem. If you're in a debt management plan with no ccjs then this shouldn't come up on a credit check anyway. If you have good references & offer someone as a guarantor I'm sure it won't be a problem for you. And just be open & honest with the rental agency, most will be absolutely fine with it. And if you're still scared why not ring a few now & ask them the question - if I'm in a debt management plan what will you need from me to rent a property through you? It's another step to stopping burying your head in the sand, the more informed you are the less you'll worry! Good luck x

have you thought of a debt relief order? u pay a small amount and it clears your debts x

I am currently in a debt management plan and we just started renting somewhere new 2 months ago, I was scared to apply but they didn't mention anything after the credit check xxx
