Dear Auntie Flo
Im writing this letter to you as it seems we have a problem communicating, I hope you can understand what I'm about to say.
We have been close for a very long time, you and I, ever since we first met when I was a teenager. I was so niave back then, but you matured me somehow - I was proud to know you even if you were a little irritating!
Our relationship has been a funny one, theres been times when ive wished you would just go away and leave me alone forever (you must know how much pain you can cause me at times?) and theres been times when I have been so pleased to see you I have cried my thanks to the heavens. But no-one can say you havnt been a constant in my life, and for that I thank you.
Now I am a lot older and wiser than when we first met, and over the last few months I have come to understand you, and the effect you have on me, to a much wider degree. I understand your purpose, I know that even when you hurt me it is for my own good, and I know it will be a long time until we are seperated for good.
With that in mind I have a favour to ask you.
I think we need a break from eachother. Im sure you can understand, I know you see what it is that I so desperately want and you know I cant do that with you hanging around every month.
So please, next time you are due for a visit, ask yourself if it is really necassary, or if there is someone else who would like to be with me instead. Someone else who needs my love and attention, who needs a chance to grow.
