Hi.

What's a good way to show my daughter how to potty train.I'm a dad and need to help my wife with the potty training process.

Please help

Cheers

I am not looking forward to this stage  I'll be watching this thread with interest though, as I think I need to pick up a few tips!

I say wait until you think they are definately ready because it wil make ur life so much more difficult! I think my daughter was actually ready before we started but I waited until I had some time off work to get things started.

We basically had a potty available for her at all times and tried to let her run around with nothing on her bottom half and encouraged her to go on the potty if she needed to go. We put her on when we could tell she needed to go, just after food, drinks etc. She got it after 3 days and we have never looked back, she ha the occasional accident but only usually when she is so busy playing, usually no 2 with her! She is not dry at night yet but it won't be long.

There will be accidents and you will know if she is ready because they usually pick it up quite quickly.

Lots of praise when she does something on potty and just ignore if she has an accident, it's not their fault and she will get it soon. How old is ur daughter?

Grace would only sit on a comfortable potty at first, the cheaper one seemed to be a litle big for her bottom and she couldn't sit comfortably, so I invested in a seat like on from Tesco, about £15 but it was well worth it. She also uses it as a step to wash her hands at the sink and she also moved onto the toilet with minimal fuss once she knew she wasn't going to fall in. We just made out it was a new funky chair and let her sit on it

We waited until Leoni was 2 and a half to start potty training her. We just left a potty in the living room and let her run around without a nappy on. When she used the potty we took it up and emptied it in the toilet so she could see where is was supposed to go.

A great book for this is My Potty Book for Girls http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb...ords=my+potty+book+for+girls&sprefix=my+potty . You get a fun story about using the potty with a sticker chart and stickers. We let Leoni put a sticker on everytime she used the potty.

I then bought her a toilet seat from ebay about two weeks later and told her. She was so excited and i was a little apprehensive when we used it for the first time but she took to it straight away. No more potty.

We have only recently got her dry at night time but we had been using drynites for a couple of weeks and i built it up for her. I kept saying 'You have only got 3 pyjama pants left so three more sleeps until you are a big girl anf go to bed wearing big girl pants'. It did the trick and she has only had 2 accidents (because she was poorly) over the last 5 months.

I think the best advice is to wait until they are ready, when you have time to give it your 100% attention and make it fun and rewarding for them. Good luck! x
