Dad At 13yrs! Pg 4 link 2 parents to triplets at 17!

Reading the article, the baby wasn't planned, and they didn't think it was a great idea and so decided to conceive - they found out at 12w, and then decided that it would be a great idea to keep the baby rather than terminate. I'm not sure about the 'great idea' bit, but you have to respect their decision not to run away and take the easiest option, even if they didn't really know what they were letting themselves in for.

I think we should feel sorry for everyone involved. Yeah, the girl may have known better - but to have been going out with a boy 2-3 years younger than herself and only 4' tall in the first place, she must have some serious security/self-esteem issues and possibly many more difficulties. 15 year old girls just don't go out with 12/13 year old boys, or at least, not ones who look about 8. She doesn't exactly look like the worldly-wise seductress type so I suspect the whole relationship was more to do with wanting to be loved and needed - but she was looking for the wrong kind, in the wrong place. Poor kids. At least it sounds as though their families are supporting them now - though it also sounds like they could have done with a bit more family support earlier in their childhoods. :(

I totally respect their decision but I am still saddened about it.

Omg my eldest is 13 this yr and I can't imagine him coming home to say he's going to be a dad.
Then I looked at the photo of them and my god that boy looks the same age as my youngest (8) not my eldsest.

Words fail me.......

I really am shocked, infact I am speechless. My eldest is 13 and I can't even begin to imagine him being the father of a child

That boy definitely doesn't look 13 he looks years younger, it is really sad that children think having a baby is a good idea.

Jesus!

The sad fact is that though I find this shocking, I kind of saw it coming and nothing shocks me anymore the way things are going. :shakehead:

wow the video wow,

Even though he is 13 and she is 15  you never know it could work out!!

And we seem to forget, that a very long time ago children where getting married and having babies at that age.

     He looks so young and she looks so much older! I just can't believe it!

i heard him on the radio - he was asked hohw he was going to cope financially - he replied 'what's financially?' :(

since then though the notion of childhood has been introduced..the concept of childhood didn't even exist really till Victorian times.

its awful :( :( they have no idea..

he reminds me of my little cousin :( so sad

sex education sucks...NOT WORKING :wall:

ETA: my post sounded really negative..

on a better note, a beautiful perfect baby has been born :D
like someone just said, it could work

although it will be tough...

good luck to them though i say  (as weird as that sounds thinking of the video of that little boy)

it so sad for all concearned, i have a bigger age gap between my kids than they do between father and daughter

Upon reflection I do think it's quite telling that the 13 year old Dad makes headlines. A lot more girls become mums at 13. Bit of sexism going on there perhaps, maybe a subconcious feeling that it is more acceptable for a girl to take on a motherly role at an early age? Or maybe just because 13 year old girls do tend to be a lot more mature, physically and mentally, than 13 year old boys... who knows... just pondering!

I heard it on the radio this morning. Madness

Havent seen what he looks like yet. Might google it instead of clicking that link

Edit. oh my god, he looks so much younger than 13

My thoughts exactly, I went to school with a girl who had a baby at 12 (pregnant at 11  ) (had another at 14, 15,16,19 all taken into care). She never made national headlines and that was 17 years ago (showing my age!).

I am still shocked about this boy, to see him and his gf together she looks so much older. I didnt even think a 12yo could get an erection!

I'd like to know how these two actually found time to have sex. I mean, were they allowed in bedrooms together?

Were they out in the street or the park having sex?

It's so sad.

Wow... he really does look young. But even if he didn't look young he is young. I suppose what we hope from our own children that they will be old enough to make choices about their lives. We hope that they aspire to a'levels and university and I wonder what these children are aspiring.

It reminds me how important education is - not just sex education, but giving young people the opportunity to progress even if their family situations do not necessarily support it. On Vanessa Feltz radio show a woman said 'aspiration is the best form of contraception' and I am inclined to agree.

Perhaps the parents were lulled into a faulse sence of security with the lad looking so young??? But saddly yes kids do have sex in parks and other inapropriat places, i use to hear about people doing it when i was at school and thought nothing of it then

It says that he spends most of his time at her house & regularly stays over....
