First month of serious trying and I have got cystitis :(

I think it's cos I have not been 'going' after BD and laying there with bum on pillow (and then falling asleep)

Always prone to it but not had it for a few years now
So now I have to think of a way of combating it next month, any advice appreciated

Oh dear, poor you! Hope it clears quickly!

Go for a nice long wee before you :bd:
Then you are less likely to need to go straight after, I started off trying to hold it all nigh so not to let anything out but I think the general 'rule' is that as long as you wait 30 mins you should not let anything out that was not going to come out anyway! :)

Yeah will definitely be more mindful next time of it, kind of forgot that I was prone to it

I consider myself a bit of a pro when it comes to cystitis lol. I suffered horrendously nearly every week from being 16 to 21. I used to get it so bad I'd be pee-ing blood and doubled over in pain. A lot of the time it would happen out of doctors hours so I usually had to go to emergency room for pills as my doctor refused to give me them on repeat prescription, eventually I saw a specialist and am happy to say I havnt had it for over a year now! So when we started ttc in march I was really worried about getting it again. So docs said to me, to lay down with bum under pillow for no more than 20 mins then go for a wee and a wash. 20 mins is plenty long enough for little spermies to be where they need be. Then when you wee it flushes out the urethra etc. Hope this helps. All the best

I have had it several times too and i think it comes down to pre-coital hygiene.

I don't mean to imply you have poor hygiene, but sometimes when you expect things to be kind of smelly anyway it gets overlooked.

I'm referring more to your partner than youself, but it can't hurt for you both to have a wash before hand.

I honestly haven't had it for ages now, about a year, and i put it down to insisting that we both wash before.

I'll have a bath in the evening, which i like to do anyway, and my hubby makes sure he washes his bits before bed if he has been remotely sweaty particularly under his foreskin.

If you can smell it without putting your nose upto it, it needs a wash.

Treatment wise i swear by Canesten Oasis.

Hahah Louise. Love it. Your so right. Although I was getting it before I was sexually active, but for a lot of people it is definately related to sex and hygine. Also, don't be to vigourous cleaning right before sex ladies as can have a douching affect and upset the ph balance of vagina and cm making it a bit of a struggle for spermies! But hubby's, scrub away! Lol no smelly thing coming anywhere near me (no pun intended)
