So Jack had a long piece of hair today in his eyes so I got the baby nail scissors and was just cutting it when he moved and I caught his ear. It bled for around 10 minutes and is fine now. I'm worried and upset though. Would he need a tetanus shot?

I wouldn't think so...?

I've butchered DS in all sorts of ways, ear while trimming hair, fingers or toes while snipping nails...

I wouldn't worry about it hon.

If you're really bothered you could phone your DR/HV and check with them xx

I think it was the more the shock that's upset me and the blood!. I was pretty certain he wouldnt need a tetanus shot but wanted to ask others.

I'm such a first time mom worrier...
Thanks :)

First time I cut DSs nail a little too short I felt positively evil (he cried for like 30 seconds and was absolutely fine).

I think these things will forever worry/upset us but, really, it's okay.

Part of being a mum :) xx

Well this is a little embarrassing but when I Rosie's fingers I accidentally cut too short and caught her - long story short I rang 111 who told me to take her to a&e immediately! Even I knew it didn't require a&e but I was worried that they had logged the call so took her down

The looks I was given!!! Honestly never been so embarrasses in all my life!! They literally put a plaster on her finger tip!

I'm sure your lo will be fine! Give it a good clean and let air get to it and it should heal up in now time! X

As others have said, I'm sure it will be fine. We have also cut fingers whilst trimming nails and I even banned his head on a cupboard (I cried more than him after that one!). These things happen when you have wriggly people.
