mia got diagnosed with croup last night :(

i know anti biotics wont help but is there anything i can do to help her through it??
my poor little princess :( i feel so so sorry for her as ive got a really bad throat too but at least i can understand what it is :( :(

My son got taken into hospital when he had it. The hosp said to put him in a steamy room so i kept going into the bathroom and turning hot tap on and letting room steam up. xxx

thanks hun...im gonna take her in shower with me later :)

Dan was taken into hospital too when he had croup (and stridor). He was only admitted for one night and given steriods. Which you can get off the Dr hun and administer at home. He's had it a couple of times since where it has been really bad (difficulty breathing) and we have been given steriods to give him.

The first time when we took him to hopsital because he was having trouble breathing, when we got there he seemed alot better. The peadtrician told us it was the night air and sometimes a little drive can help.
Although obviously its a tough call in this kind of weather because its so cold for baby to be out at night.

Whenever he's had it though, its only been for a few days. Hopefully that's of some comfort
I hope Mia gets better hun

thanks hun :) yes it seems it will go after a few days so it is a great comfort...

she still seems happy as usual and her breathing doesnt seem to be affect all that much..heres hoping it just goes as quick as possible :)

 croup sounds so much worse than what it is but it is scary. Luke had it a while back i put him in the bathroom and put the shower on to make some steam and it did seem to help - old fashioned but it worked.

lots of tlc and hopefully it will go quick. regular calpol too never does any harm when lil ones are under the weather.

sorry just realised shower thing was suggested already :wall:

its ok hun :) thanks for the reply

just knowing it helps, helps lol!!

it tends to recur and can be quite scary, especially as the child gets older.

as well as steam, opening a window or taking them outside into cold air can help.

steroids help too, but they're not good long term.

hope your LO is OK soon......

ive been keeping her in

trying to keep away from the steriods as like you say would like her to fight it herself but if its showing signs of getting worse im not going to risk it...
thanks hun xx

only take her out when she's having an attack. The cold air helps to relieve it. You can even open the freezer door and just let her breath in, but keep her body warm!

I also found a humidifier helped quite a lot when my daughter had it.
