Hi ladies, Happy New Year to all and I hope you had a good Christmas. To be honest I couldn't wait to get back to normal, Just taken most of the decs down which is GREAT! I do love Christmas but love getting back to normal too.

Anyway, back to my reason for posting.

I was just munching on a chocolate, one with a soft center and one of my molars cracked and a piece broke off! I can't believe it! I mean if it was a blinkin hard toffee I'd understand but not a really soft chocolate. I look after my teeth/gums and recently saw my dentist and she never mentioned anything was looking dodgy.

Hmmmm, now I remember when I was pregnant with my eldest son and a cavity developed in a molar and I couldn't have it filled properly until I gave birth. Which meant the cavity became bigger so the filling I finally had was much bigger than I had expected. I think the reason for not being able to have a filling whilst pregnant is because of the anesthetic but not 100%. Now, I'm worried about this tooth, it already has a filling and now there is part of the tooth missing! I'm hoping because its been 12 years since I was pregnant with my eldest things could have advanced in dentistry so I can have something done.

Anyone else been in a similar situation, have any ideas?

Hi   i lost a filling on christmas day and i need to make an appointment with dentist, they will give you a temporary filling but not a permenant one as they contain mercury. Your dentist should be able to patch it up untill baby is here. :D

Ahhh I remember the mercury risk now! It's been sometime hehe, thanks for the info. Lets hope we dont have to wait too long for an appointment.

We should be able to ask for an emergency appointment as we cant risk getting an infection, im going to give my dentist a call in the morning, i would have called sooner but they have been closed for the last 5 days :(

Oh I was wondering if I could get in earlier because I'm pregnant, will make sure I tell them. I've never cracked a tooth before, I'm a bit nervous tbh.

I had the same problem, went to dentist and they basically told me there was nothing they could do until after LO was here, unless I wanted to pay £120 for a white filling which I just cannot afford right now! I've to go in again on the 12th for them to check on it - Sara what was the temporary thing called? Just a temporary filling? so I can ask her about it.

Hi Vicki yes its just called a temporary filling, its white but not one of the proper white fillings. Hope you manage to get one, saying that i hope i do too lol xx

Hi did you manage to get an appointment?? I have an appointment for wednesday. :D

Hi how did you get on today?
I had a good appointment i expected just to get a temorary filling as they cant give you a metal one and you normaly have to pay for white ones but i got a lovely white filling :cheer: She didnt want to give me an anaesthetic so just had to grin and bear it while she did the drilling. xx

Blinkin eck! Drilling and no pain relief  very well done. My dentist didnt drill and said it wasn't as bad as it felt with my tongue. She filled it with what I can only assume was the temporary filling and said that was it and if it fell out before the baby arrived go back for another and if it fell out after the baby go back for a real filling. Was a relief to discover it wasn't that bad.

Glad you got a lovely white filling :cheer:

Glad you got it fixed and it wasnt as bad as you thought, hopefully your filling wont fall out  , the drilling wasnt too bad it was only a little to remove what was left of my old filling :D
